Wanderlust - This was hilarious. Paul rudd was funny as heck in this. The Thing (2012 remake) - Not as awesome as the original. It was faster paced and killed some of the thrill and suspense of the original. Regardless it was still good. The Sitter - Another funny movie. Jonah Hill and the kids were funny. Even if the plot did seem to play out like every other Jonah hill movie. Snow White and the Huntsman. - It was okay. It was sluggish and some of the acting was weak, but It was far too long. There wasn't enough of a payout. Would skip this. Silent Hill Revelations - It was decent. The special effects and hideous monsters were the best. The story was a bit too simplistic. I was surprised this was a sequel to the original Silent Hill movie.

Kick ass guitar shred with crazy sweeps, tapping and a cool iron maiden inspired riff. These guys destroy. Rings of Saturn - Utopia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ9sbnLjQqM

Ever since MOAB, there’s a been a divide in the diru fanbase between people who love the bands early material and despise everything they’ve done in the last couple of years. However, I have never been one of those people. I enjoy every album they put out and it’s great to see how much the band has matured as musicians. That being said, Unraveling is the first release I can say I’ve been disappointed by. For me this release was flawed from the start. I have no idea why the band decided to remake songs that were good/awesome to begin with. They put all this effort into redoing their songs and in the end none of them were as good as the originals. That’s not to say they are bad songs, but they don’t have the magic that the originals have. Sure, the songs have more layers, cool guitar work and superior sound production, but however more complex sounding and modern they are, they don’t live up to their former selves. Seriously, diru, if it ain’t broken don’t fix it. And it begs the question, why put all this time into remaking all these songs, when they could have just made a fresh batch? There are several issues that seem to plague the remakes. One of them is melody. In the bands attempt to reflect their current progressive metal style and their maturity as musicians, the more melodic aspects of the songs were lost. And for me, the melodic aspects of their old songs were pretty much the heart and soul of the music. Yes, in terms of music theory melody is there, but it no longer drives the songs. It makes a song like Bottom Of The Death Valley, a song I originally love, sound void and lifeless in a very bad way. Another issue is that band just seems to be trying too hard with these remakes. You’ve got kyo’s unnecessary vocal wails and unintelligible growls, way too much palm muting in the guitars ( again further stripping melody), and with all these added layers of guitars, vocals and instrumentation the songs lack atmosphere. Compare Macabre and it’s original counter part or even Kasumi. The only song I feel got close to the magic of the original was The Final. Everything else was fail. As a diru fan and guitar nerd I appreciate the effort and musicianship that went into the remakes, but they just don’t compare to the originals. And of course, I’m going to compare them to the originals because they are the standard those songs set. I feel the band would have been better off making original songs rather than remakes. The bad part about this is that now they’ll probably play the remake of these songs live rather the original versions. I always wanted to hear the orginal Kasumi and BOTD live, but I guess that won’t happen now. I really hope they stop with these remakes. Next they’ll mess up Cage. I give it a 7/10. Despite, not living up to standard, I can’t deny the musicianship and some of the interesting aspects that came out of the “re-imagining.”. However disappointing this was, it’s still a good release IMO. And on a side note, Shinya’s drumkit does sound a bit off. Some of the snare work and hi hats sound weird.

Resident Evil Retribution. It was a good movie. I don't get all the hate. I feel like people take this series too seriously. Lots of action, gunplay, crazy fight moves and zombie bashing. It was fun.

Will add Tokyo Shoegazer' s new album Turn Around to the list. And I'm excepting Alice Nine to announce a new album with all the singles they've got. I'm also highly interested in hearing new Bloodtaind Child material. Sophia left, but they've got a new female singer who I'm dying to hear.

This might only be a single, but it's a really good one, even if it is a cover. Eskimo Callboy - Cinema Download: HERE Rings of Saturn - Dingir album stream Download: HERE These guys are my new favorite metal band I've recently come across. They're technical deathmetal/deathcore with topics dealing all about aliens. They released they're album for free and upload guitar tabs for all their songs which is awesome. As for the album itself, it's a mash of brutality, technicality and a few melodic passages. It's sick. There are a ton of alien sounding guitar sweeps and the double bass drumming and blast beats are the fastest I have ever heard from any drummer.

Lee Mckinny, the guitarist from Born Of Osiris just put out a free EP of his electronic side project Mechanize and it's awesome. Proves he's just not sick at guitar shredding, but also great at making addictive dubstep beats. Mechanize - Fanatsy Download: HERE Butter The Children - Lupus A indie rock band with nice guitar work and pop melodies. There EP was a fun listen. Download: HERE

I was (still am) planning to buy their new album. I was super impressed by the material they released, but I had no idea it had leaked 2 months prior to the release date. That's a major blow for any band. Misha has stated on his facebook that he is working with Tosin on new ASL material. His exact words were, "Tosin Abasi and I have been hard at work on the new Animals As Leaders material. Six songs down so far!" And Volumes (another awesome tech progessive djent band I recently got into) released a photo of themselves working with Tosin and Javier. I'm guessing they're doing some sort of collaboration between the two for a single or ep or something. Either way I'm excited about that. And as much I love Periphery's work and self-titled album, I think I'm more psyched for the new Born Of Osiris album than Juggernaut. The Discovery was a brilliant album in so many aspects, so I'm excited to see how will they top it. If you like Periphery and ASL check out Born of Osiris's The Discovery or even Volumes Via. They each have their own take on the progressive metal djent thing with awesome production. And here's the band working on Juggernaut. I'm really hoping it's a double disc release.

^ Everyone looks great and they've done overseas tour before, but it's been mostly Europe. Maybe they'll add more dates later on to cover other countries.

Great I can't wait. I recently got into these guys. I thought they were some medicore vk band that was being overhyped, but I was totally wrong. I want more of their electronic tinged metalcore.
