I actually listened to the video posted for Macabre. I've never actually listened to the original, but I did like the remake. It was nice that they didn't overdo the super aggressive thing and I liked the organ / harpsichord parts.
However, that cadence. What the hell >: (

The time has finally arrived. While we're wrapping the last few items up on our to-do list, we are going to go ahead and open the gates for the first wave of "beta" staff members. At this time we don't have any inclination to how many people we'll initially select within this first wave (perhaps around 6 people, depending on what roles people apply for). If you're interested, continue on!
So, some of the crucial things that we'll be looking for:
Proficiency in English Honesty Friendly and willingness to work with others with various religious/cultural/ethnic backgrounds If you meet (or exceed!) at all of the points above, great! We'd love to have you be a part of us. Below you will find a list of positions we currently have open, as well as any extra requirements needed for the position:
Data Entry
The one is pretty simple. A data entry position entails entering band, artist, and discography information into the main database for display on DS. No previous experience required.
Skills Needed
Decent writing capabilities Research skills Notes
We do not allow pre-written information (from Wikipedia and the like) to be directly copy/pasted, word for word as biographical information. Decent writing skills are required to make something coherent and grammatically correct based off of research done for each band.
Writer
Writers have a pretty far range. They may write articles about bands and their history, reviews on albums, events they've been to (we'll look into the ability to obtain press passes), fashion or style trends, and pretty much anything else relevant to the site's interest.
Skills Needed
Excellent writing capabilities Research skills Notes
Please include examples of past work along with your application, and tell us what you're interested in writing about.
Translator
We do not pump things through Google translate here. We have real people dissecting and translating Japanese material. It can be horribly painful and time consuming, so we love our translators very much! (we love all our staff, really) This job will include translation of song lyrics, interviews, articles, etc.
Skills Needed
Excellent writing capabilities Research skills Notes
Please include examples of past work along with your application, and tell us what you're most interested in translating.
So if any of these positions tickles your fancy, please fill out the following form and PM it to me. This will be open until we have either selected the first wave of staff, or the site going live on December 30th - whichever comes first.

Age:

nick reacted to manda in Letter from the Designer Part I
Hello people who probably don't know me! I am Manda. My job is to make things look pretty and function on the front end of Deadeyes-star.com (Kai gets the back end, hehehe). Here I present to you my first "Letter from the Designer"!
The past couple of weeks I've made huge progress in coding out DS's theme with pyrocms. However, we discovered the hard way that pyro is great for back end development and completely sucks for front end. There is little documentation on how to properly set things up functionally in regards to front end functions so it's been a whole bunch of trial and error and making shit up! So I apologize for my part of things taking a little long ;__;
As of right now we have the following functioning:
User login and login forms User registration and registration forms User Profiles and control panel User shoutbox "Featured" slider Articles and all article functions complete Category and site wide tagging system Commenting system Static Pages All of this not including the massive amount of work Kai put into building the custom module for bands. Before we can open to the public we need we need to finish up the following:
Index page set up Band profile layout coded Search Function MH to DS user accont integration
Once these features are complete the site can launch in it's test phase and designated staff can begin work on entering information into the database! SO EXCITING!
Adding in these features shouldn't take very long. I estimate less than a month if we can keep up a good pace with only a couple of brick walls to run into.
And now I leave you with screen shots of progress!

American living in Seoul, South Korea. I have lived in many different countries (Japan, Germany, United States, Korea, Afghanistan), but the culture, eccentricities, and music of Japan has been the most mesmerizing. I hope to live there again, someday.

nick reacted to Kaye in ギルガメッシュ (Girugamesh)
I'd be the first one to admit that all they've done in the past years is somewhat linked, but I remember when I saw them live during their Crazy Crazy Crazy tour and MUSIC just sounds the best live. I'm glad there's a bit more of that again.
GO is the most boring album ever though. Everything on that release was so clean and overproduced that waiting for any kind of edge or "rawness" was pretty much a waste of time. So if anything, MONSTER will be a huge step up from that.
It's been showing in the bands they hang out with and the line-ups they get thrown in though. Girugamesh likes being part of the underground rock scene more than any type of VK. Wish they'd somehow go a bit more post-hardcore, but I'm already glad Satoshi's voice sounds better in these recordings.

nick reacted to TheStoic in I'm excited to join this community!
はじめましてみなさん!
My name is Ryan, but I go by the moniker "TheStoic" as I use it in most blog/forum communities I take part in.
My love for Japanese Rock and Japanese culture originates from 2001 when I moved from the U.S. to live in Okinawa, Japan. My best friend, whom was half Japanese-half American, introduced me to Japanese music through Arcade games, anime and manga and before you knew it, I was heading to my local Tsutaya Record Store to buy my favorite "introdcutory" artists I fist came to know and love, such as Bump of Chicken, The Blue Hearts, L'arc en Ciel, Siam Shade, Luna Sea, Hide, X-Japan, and Gackt. However, as I started buying new CDs of artists I would see in Shoxx, Fool's Mate, and Cure magazines, I came to grow and fall in love with darker, heavier acts like Dir en grey, Mucc, D'espairsRay, and The GazettE.
Today, over half of my music library is strictly Japanese, and I have been lucky enough to see several of my favoirte acts live both in Japan and in the United States. I have been a part of other J-Music communities before, and after reading the review section of this fourm, I saw I liked the layout, quality and discussion and have decided to join in the mix.
I look forward to meeting everyone!
Thanks for the great content here.

Well hello there! I thought it was a good idea to update this pretty old thread a little instead of making a new one. Because why not, right?
So yeah, I´ve tried to evolve a little and here´s the outcome:
"THE 25TH FRAME"
Probably the oldest one in this update.
"THE ARTIFICAL WORLD WITH CHARACTERS"
It´s actually pretty sad I´m not gonna finish this one, because I kind of like it. Then again I´m emotionally not able to do it anyway. Basically disappointment in dreams, no art school for me.
"IF GINTOKI WAS A BISHIE"
"TWO DIFFERENT HUMANITIES; TWO MAKES THREE"
And my dear sir Fruity, a little try with textas. I don´t have a big set of them, so it looks a little dull. But I´ll probably buy a larger one any time soon. (^ ω~

nick reacted to Biopanda in Presenting RarezHut: The first(?) international used VK store!
After well over a year's worth of work, I'd like to present to you all: RarezHut! This is one of the first international store for used visual kei music. Myself, along with my two associates, have been working hard to deliver a store to meet the needs of the international visual kei community, offering a wide selection of products at a reasonable cost. At the moment, RarezHut has over 600 items for sale, each of which includes a listenable/watchable sample! We've got a total inventory of well over 2000 items and will be working hard over the coming months to deliver updates(at least once a month) with as many items as we can stuff in there. Currently available are a multitude of CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes and VHS spanning over 200 bands.
Features of the store include:
"Fuzzy search" system: when you search for a band, it'll pull up any other items available by bands with members from the band you searched for in addition. Listenable/watchable samples for every item to give you a little idea of what to look forward to. Newsletter: If you create an account, you can opt-in for our newsletter which details all of the recent additions and will be sent out the moment they're added to the site, allowing you to get first dibs on any new goodies! Remember: once they're gone, they're gone for good~ Digital copies: along with any cassette/VHS purchases, we offer high-quality digital copies free-of-charge. We realize that not everyone has the means to play these aging formats, but we aim not to let that get in the way of you being able to enjoy them! In an effort to make sure that buying goes smoothly, all items added will have the digital copies ready before addition so that packages can be shipped out on the next business day.
Thanks for taking the time to look at this and we sincerely hope you enjoy the store(and whatever goodies you buy from it )! Given the small nature of the visual kei community, we rely on word-of-mouth for most of our advertising, so any friends you can tell about the store will help us immensely <3
If you've got any questions/comments/feedback, feel free to post them here or send me a PM and I'll try to reply ASAP~
Update 3/13/2015
So we've finally joined the 21st century and started a facebook and tumblr! You can follow us on either(or both if you really love us <3) for product spotlights, updates, corgi pictures and more! To celebrate this, we're running a special 10% off sale from now(3/13) until next week Friday(3/20). To get in on this sale, just enter the code SOCIALSALE10 at checkout and you'll be on your way to (even) cheaper rarez in no time!
In addition, I'd like to welcome Rob(robkun) to the RarezHut team! He's been a huge supporter of our store since the very beginning and we're honored to have him as part of the staff! He'll be writing the product spotlights on both our facebook and tumblr pages, so definitely go check them out because they're really awesome

Basically I just want to say I agree with everyone that has said this is a JAPANESE music forum.
And, like Ito said, there are places within this forum already that you can discuss kpop if you want, nothing is stopping you.
Personally, I think that if you want to discuss anything the best option is just to start a thread about it, you dont necessarily need an entire subforum to do so.
I like the fact that there is a mix of everything here so I dont feel like I have to just stick to one thing. The fact that there is a general entertainment, discussion, music etc category makes it easier to open up the topics to many more things. and like champ said, making those into separate subforums is just a lot of unnecessary work when it's already there.
I think the only reason a subforum should be implemented is just for the sake of organization but, lets be real here, aint nobody got time for that.
MH is a nice community where the members can discuss many things and is not only limited to japanese rock/vkei, but at the core, it IS a japanese music forum.
So that's what I have to say about that.

nick reacted to sai in Split forum into; more parts
The thing is that we're not afraid of change. The thing is that we won't go around randomly adding sub-forums while we have no idea whether there is demand for it or not. If you want a K-pop section, sure, but we can't just randomly make sections because YOU want to have a section for K-pop. If we notice there is an actual demand on the forum for a K-pop section, we'll take this into consideration to see if we want to make separate groups for K-pop discussions or not.
And I agree with Ito: don't just complain about the fact that there is no K-pop section. If you want a K-pop section, show us that there is demand for it! Start threads about K-Pop, talk about it with others! If we see that this actually is becoming bigger, we can do something about it! Participate in discussions. We deleted a lot of sub-forums in the past because it was just too messy and it took too much time cleaning them all up. We've been fine without them. Also, the tagging system works fine. As far as I know, you're currently the only one who is unhappy with it. If this were more people, you would probably have a point, but since there isn't (or at least people are not vocal about it), there are no plans in changing it.
-
nick reacted to Ito in Split forum into; more parts
Dude, we are changing things, this is an ever evolving place. It's just we aren't changing anything on this issue...at least not yet, as we really don't have much reason to...and if there are good reasons, you certainly haven't given us any. If you want us to make subforms for the type of music that you are in to, give us a reason to. And I am not saying "oh, because if you do that people will talk about it." You want to to talk about Kpop, post about Kpop! Get a discussion going! Show us that people want to talk about it.
And as far as you not liking the tagging system goes, just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it isn't a good system.
