Sorry for the super late response (I wasn't able to get near a computer ;w;) Haha, my family still mistakes VK guys as girls even though they're missing some obvious features ^^; Vistlip did take a bit of a break since I think the vocalist, Tomo, had some health issues and couldn't sing, but apparently they're back. Yeah, it's always nice to see bands together even after 10+ years since it seems there are many bands who disband at the 10 year mark It's happened to a lot of bands I liked, but hopefully it won't happen to vistlip. I wouldn't expect anything less from BORN especially from their early days, haha. They had a lot of energy when they played live, which makes me think perhaps they're more of a 'live' band than a 'recording studio' band xD Yup, I did manage to see them live although Kifumi already left the band by then, so I sadly never saw him play his awesome bass. Lol, that's pretty cool you got to take a picture with Ryoga (despite the cringeness of the photo). Haha, I look at the photos I took with VK artist and think, why did I look like that? XD It seems like Ryoga gets really excited and pumped when performing lives and meeting fans, lol. Agree! They were pretty underrated although I guess maybe it could be that people considered them knock-offs Gazette? Well, I love Ikuma's and the instrumentals voice in any case. Yesss, that is such a good song! I haven't listened to them in a while, and forgot how awesome it is, haha. I have a hard time choosing which song I like from them. I'll just stick a few of their songs underneath the spoiler: Same here,. I remember being pretty much solely dedicated to VK, even dropping any other hobbies I had at the time XD Yeah, Reign's sound is different from AND ;w; I've only recently started listening to REIGN so I'm not familiar with the whole discography yet. I started off listening to their first full album, 666. Although, as you've already said, it's not quite the same as AND's sound. It's something else all together, lol. Not sure if I completely like them yet, but Ikuma's voice is still as strong as ever. As of now, I really like these songs: No problem I get super exciting talking about VK with others, so thank you!

Haha, same here! For me, it was Bonds and Snow Scene, which I put on repeat the most. And I don't regret a single second of it even if it drove my family crazy, lol. Yeah! If you can, you should definitely check out vistlip's latest album. I think it's a bit experimental, but still retains vistlip in it, haha. Wow, that's awesome you saw BORN live. Ryoga and the band were a ton of fun to see in the flesh, lol. But yeah, he was a hot mess and a really entertaining vocalist Can't deny that, as you've said, he's come a long way. Also, not to bother you with one last rec, but I saw you liked AND ^^; If you're a fan of Ikuma (the singer), he's created a new band, REIGN, which I think is not too bad. No problem! Always happy to help out if possible

Hi! Welcome to MH! I remember An Cafe also being one of the first VK bands that I discovered, lol. Many great bands on the list (especially vistlip and Screw ) Another band to check out is Kizu if you haven't already. Also, Khryst has some former Screw members and the vocalist from BORN (Ryoga) is in a new band, Razor, if you're interested in those as well. Hope you have an awesome time around here
  5. Happy birthday, Komorebi! Hope you have an awesome day :glitter:

I got into VK thanks to some friends in middle school who showed me bands like An Cafe (and also thanks to anime shows). But I've lost contact with most of them, and the last time I saw them, they didn't have an interest in VK anymore. In high school, it was something I mainly enjoyed alone other than one girl who was half-Japanese and knew about it, but I'm not sure if she was a huge fan of it either. I guess it was a 'phase' for most people I knew, but as has been mentioned already, it also has played a big role in my life and remains important to me, greatly molding me into the person I am. There's only one other person I know irl who is interested in it, but she doesn't listen to it as much anymore. Thanks to places like Livejournal and MH, I've made some great friends. Some have come and went, but it's always awesome to meet new people who like VK ^^
  18. Necro-ing this thread, lol. Saw some super great choices above When it comes to Mandopop/Taiwanese music, I mainly listen to mainstream artists, including some oldies, although it sort of blends in with Cantopop, lol. Some have already been mentioned, but I listen to artists like Jay Chou, Fish Leong, Cyndi Wang, JJ Lin (technically from Singapore, but sings in Mandarin), Fahrenheit, S.H.E., Tank, Magic Power, and a bunch of others xD I'll just post some videos, lol ^^; JJ Lin - Tales of Red Cliff - It's somewhat based on the Chinese novel, "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and has wonderful incorporation of traditional Chinese instruments. I think I once read somewhere that the person who wrote Jay Chou's lyrics wrote the lyrics for this song. Cyndi Wang - When You - A sad love song with a nice vocalist A-Mei - Full Name - She's known as the "Mandopop Queen" with a lovely, evocative voice Wilber Pan and Rainie Yang - Bu De Bu Ai - It's based off of the Korean song, Please Tell Me Why by Y Fahrenheit - Only I Have Feelings for You featuring Hebe (from S.H.E.) - A cute anime-like MV where all the guys have hopelessly fallen head-over-heels over a girl and each try to woo her heart. The song is written by JJ Lin. Magic Power - Who am I - A band that has two singers who complement each other with a DJ in their group F.I.R. - Crescent Bay - A band that has a female vocalist and a nice incorporation of traditional Chinese instruments (I think xD) Tank - Three Kingdom Love - It incorporates traditional Chinese instrumentals and (I think?) Chinese opera singing techniques. Mayday - 入陣曲 - They have lots of great songs, so I just chose a random one for this, lol. I posted two different videos, but they're the exact same song. S.H.E. - Loving You - The bittersweet love song was featured in a love drama called Down with Love. S.H.E. is a girl group with Hebe Tian who I believe is also a solo artist. I posted two videos of the same song; one is the official music video while the other contains the lyrics and unofficial English translation.
