I'm tempted to watch it but I think it will make me even more upset with Kyo.

Mirai's cleans on that album sound a lot like Vanishing Vision/Blue Blood era Toshi

Those previews sound MUCH better than their early industrial-ish stuff. "Chainsaw" was absolutely headache-inducing. Mao's vocals have been improving a lot lately! Those densely layered vocal arrangements are really interesting.
  4. Well, with that kind of cover, maybe you're right after all! With that cover this is the kind of music that I'd expect to hear from it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqsnb1v6yeI

I just noticed Ninth is pretty similar to Arche in a sense it has those throwbacks to every previous era of both bands (except the really weird stuff they used to do on the beginning of their careers?) Not really a fan of Ninth at all. "Two of a Kind" almost did a good job for me but then it couldn't have had a lazier chorus. All of the other songs sounded like stuff they've done already and failed completely to grab my attention. BTW, can't get over how good "13Stairs[-1]" is. The lyrics are cringy af but that song is gooooooooooood

Is sucking live a requirement for the whole post-Kyo screamer thing? I don't think I've seen a vocalist which I'd consider really good to match their studio performances live regularly. Yoshiatsu had a very unique screaming style and I really liked his cleans as well. The thing with the drummer is pretty sad, he was definitely one of the best drummers of the scene and IMO the most talented member of Dadaroma. I'm not really that much of a fan of them but I happen to like a couple of songs quite a bit. I don't think the number of songs by them I like is much bigger than 5 though

Agree completely with it being a mix of Tool + Björk style. Looks pretty awful though. It's like a futuristic Momo on LSD or something. Good catch on the comparision to the font of In Flames' a Sense of Purpose. It reminds me of Motionless in White's logo too. I was expecting them to explore that insect theme they had with the From Depression to... DVDs It looked so cool! Haven't really liked anything they used for cover art (when it comes to studio releases) since DSS to be quite frank.

@Rosner I really like drum panning too! DSS does that specially well, you can actually "set up" the drums in your head (as if you were sitting on the stool) from the sound of each individual piece of the kit. I think my description doesn't make much sense though :P. I don't recall that effect on Arche tough, but I haven't listened to that album in a good while, even less while wearing headphones.

I think the track that suffered the most with the remaster was "Stuck Man". I'm suspicious to say that because I actually like the original mix, but the messy sound and the St. Anger snare actually work pretty well on that one and it helps achieving that weird Mr. Bungle/Fantômas-ish sound.
  10. I'll check them later! This new vocalist is pretty cool, I remember when he joined Concerto Moon back in 2011. I always had a hard time enjoying those symphonic/power metal VK bands because I don't think that ultra dramatic low-larynx vocal style fit the music at all.

Like the live performances of "Uyuu no Sora" for Sukekiyo? Those are really cool! They remind me of the improvisations King Crimson does live.

Wasn' expecting to see them here! They're pretty kickass! I haven't heard all of their albums yet but I really liked what I've heard (Scenes from Hell, In Somniphobia and Graveward. Oshima is a pretty great dude as well, he sent me a friend request on FB after I complimented him when the band announced he joined them. He even likes my posts sometimes

Man, this makes me really angry. I always thought those "modes of" tour didn't have any purpose other than take money from the rabid fans and make Kyo shreds his throat even more. I know, he's old, the amount of abuse he put his voice through in the past is just immense and it's hard to sound good when you run like a maniac, but honestly, watching live footage from Kyo is just depressing nowadays and IIRC the last time I watched a full DVD by them was the DSS at. I know he never was a consistent live performance but until early 2015 or so, he still tried (and even after it, every once in a while he would nail a something really difficult like "Tousei" from the 2nd day at Budokan). I've been following him since 2011, and while it was cool to witness his vocal habilities at their very best (which peaked in 2013 IMO, The Unraveling has sick vocals and he could actually replicate it live almost perfectly - the Tabula Rasa tour was his best, even that DVD that comes with Sustain the Untruth, which was of a performance Kyo did while going through fever and amigdalitis had some very good stuff). You can actually pinpoint the time where he (and the whole band as well) started bringing back the visual elements to live performances and started exploring other stuff besides music - which was all after the 2012 break they took before releasing Rinkaku. In addition to the poetry books, the photography stuff, the goods designs, he really started going. It was kinda cool at first, but nowadays I just get the impression he doesn't even care about the musical aspect of their live shows, as long as he prances around with corpse-paint wearing monk hoods or doing SM shit while dressed like a naughty nun he seems to be satisfied. And most of all, there's a quote from Kyo himself that goes like "if you want perfection, go listen to the studio albums". That's what I do nowadays, but even then, the studio stuff isn't that good anymore and if you ask me, he sounds like absolute crap on Adoratio. His high register is almost gone, he lost the support to hit the high notes and he mostly sound like he's gagging. There's a reason people who absolutely shredded their voices don't try their old stuff anymore (think Nina Hagen, Phil Anselmo, etc.). Kyo just so self-absorbed with this "i'm expressing myself" thing that just insists on doing stuff he can't do anymore instead of revamping his vocal style. He still has done some of the most batshit insane vocal performances I ever heard in my life though and I thank him for that. I just don't have any hope when it comes to his future

Is it possible that the vocalist is a woman? Because holy crap, 1,56m (5ft 1.4in) is SHORT
  16. I don't remember Mika's drumming sounding so triggered like this on Sukekiyo's music.

  19. Yeah I've heard that too. I agree with Kelrya, it made me think more of Sukekiyo than DeG actually. It sounds like it's the studio version as well (you can hear there are two vocal lines at points - the last time I saw Kyo using pre-recorded backing vocals live was on that bonus DVD of The Rose Trims Again with the Uroboros songs). I suppose people from the a-knot fan club (or whatever is called) receive the previews first? (I remember a person mentioning they got the Arche previews before the general public back then, and there's also that Rinkaku sample). Or maybe it was someone who works on the studio with them that recorded that with their cellphones to extort people

"Samishen no Kaoru desu" Shinya messing with Kyo was so cute lol

Wasn't Toriko used as OP/ED theme for an anime as well or am I tripping?
  22. "Ranunculus" is a ballad no? They announced they filmed a MV sometime ago and I suppose they are going to wear that look they used on the promotional pictures for the album, like they did with "Uroko" (whose look is the one used on the promotional images for Arche back then). An shortened version of the "Ranunculus" MV is set to be included on the deluxe version of TIW, so we can assume it's the one they talked about filming? Wouldn't it be weird a MV ballad/soft-kind of song with such visually unpleasant, ultrasaturated look? And on the topic of MVs, do you guys think they might do more than just this non-single track? For Arche they actually did two MVs for non-single songs ("Uroko" and "Revelation of Mankind") and that Lyric video for "Kukoku no Kyouon" in addition to the singles that already had videos ("Rinkaku" and "Sustain the Untruth"). Do you guys have any guesses on what songs might get MVs as well?

Kyo's vocals aren't exactly the best on the Rinkaku DVD but it has my favorite renditions from a couple of songs (like "Tsumi to Batsu") and the energy is great. And yeah that "Decayed Crow" performance is legendary. I love how everyone reacts to it nowadays!
