i've been talking to some glamhaze fans since yesterday and pretty much everyone is still in shock. i felt so sick after the announcement yesterday that i had to take a day off. the girl i'm closest with is a hayato fan and she's especially miserable because while all of us can (in theory) still see glamhaze until they disband in january, everything effectively ended for her yesterday morning with hayato departing with immediate effect. she's been desperately writing DMs and letters to him before he vanishes for good.
 
anyway, i don't think anyone saw this coming. all we know is that the band has decided to disband for some time already (i.e. before their one-man at O-west on 10/8) but they didn't want to announce it on that day. in retrospect, 'last scene' was probably satoru's goodbye to all of us..
 
some fans speculated that their label has forced glamhaze to disband because the band failed to  meet their expectations. i'm not sure how true this is to be honest. for a vk band that has been around for LESS THAN 1 year to hold a successful live at O-west is a spectacular achievement by any standard. on the other hand ASTARIA, as much as i love them, has been around for twice as long but they have fewer than half of glamhaze's fans. however, if this is true we might still see the glamhaze members back in a new band, like what happened when JILLED RAY disbanded.
 
there are also other theories being floated around like conflicts among members (despite their assertions to the contrary), and claims that satoru wants to ditch the rest of the members to go solo. but these are mostly unfounded rumors that at this point most of glamhaze's serious fans have neither the energy nor desire to verify.
 
i can only imagine how painful it must have been for the band to answer incessant questions from event staff and interviewers like 'what upcoming plans do you have for the band?' or 'what would glamhaze like to see next year for zeal link's 10th anniversary?' when they already knew that they won't be around for all of those.

@hirokiAh that makes sense. I totally didn't think about の as being indicative of location. But yeah, if that's what he was going for then it's pretty much perfect. Or maybe even if it's not self inflicted, just that it exists there and that's where it is because of the situation rather than it actively happening??  Okay sorry I'm not sure if this is making sense anymore. @echo yeah i literally had to check against the recording to make sure the booklet didn't misprint the lyrics lolol. i agree that 心のナイフが刺さり is indeed an unusual phrase. if you press me i'll say that i think there are 2 reasons why masashi had phrased it like this: 1) 心のナイフ can be understood here as indicative of location ("the knife in/within my heart") as opposed to possession ("the knife of/belonging to my heart"), which emphasizes how the knife (figuratively) can never entirely be dislodged from the mermaid's heart; 2) masashi wants to avoid the use of an implied causal subject that surfaces if you say 心にナイフが刺さり, which seems to imply that there's some external agent actively doing the stabbing (even though 刺さる is intransitive), whereas masashi's phrasing lends itself more comfortably to the idea that the pain is self-inflicted and something that 'passively' happens as a result of her own action/choice? that's just my 2c though.
 
@chemicalpictures thanks for your kind words!!! i'm really happy to hear that you liked the translation and my notes (which in all honesty are just there to satisfy my own OCD since i'm certain most people hate them lolol) anyway, masashi is a really amazing lyricist (in addition to being amazing at pretty much everything else) and i'm always a little terrified to translate his lyrics haha... then again i always feel that way for bands i like orz.  i definitely hope he sticks around as well because he is pure <33333333333333333333

Notes:
“Ningyohime” translates into “mermaid,” and the lyrics of this song are drawn from The Little Mermaid. Masashi makes several familiar references to the fairy tale: the “legs that can no longer dance” and the “knife piercing [her] heart” allude to the potion that the Little Mermaid consumed so that she could gain a pair of human legs and dance with the prince she fell in love with, but at the cost of unbearable pain akin to being stabbed with a knife. The "face reposing against your arms" refers to the princess whom the prince eventually marries. The two references to “dissolving into sea foam” are borrowed from the belief that mermaids don’t have a soul and, unlike humans whose souls live on beyond their physical death, mermaids dissolve into sea foam when they die and cease to exist.

Okay so a bit late, but FoLLoW are fucking awesome live? Like their recordings don't do them justice. 
 
If you're able to see them at all before they disband I HIGHLY recommend it. Like,  I've never been so touched by a ballad before. 人魚姫 pretty much destroyed me. No joke.  
But it wasn't just the ballad, their whole set list was great last night and they are SO MUCH FUN live! like wtf?? Masashi and Junsei are hilarious!! 
They said it was their first time playing at Edge too and Masashi was amazed at how big the box for the vocalist was. He was like "LOOK AT HOW MUCH I CAN MOVE AROUND UP HERE!!!" derp derp derp <3
I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that they're disbanding.
 
I was really lucky and Masashi and Junsei came out to buppan after their set. I was able to talk to both of them and tell them that their foreign fans love them <3
Masashi was super surprised and happy to hear that anyone abroad even heard of them them let alone cared about them lol

Just chiming in as a long-time HIROHIRO fan and by extention, ViV as well <3 I've been following him ever since I was a li'l VK babby back in 2005. I was so hooked on his voice that his new band(at the time) P*Route's first single was the first Japanese CD that I ever bought XD Apparently I'm almost alone in my love though lol

I saw a ViV notification and I was totally expecting a Wataru picspam post!!
