Imo the mixing has been weird on the post-Arche releases even though I thought the production was mostly good on Arche and the Unraveling and DSS. The harsh vocals seem way too buried in the mix on everything but Utafumi. And speaking of Utafumi, the guitar tone is way too thin and quiet on that song. The acoustic/clean guitar part on Ash is weirdly loud and the distorted guitar tone sounds like plastic or rubber or something and has no grit to it.

They’ve been pretty overtly VK for the last few years I’d say.
-
I’ve read people saying that the new songs sound like DSS songs but mixed with their current style.
-
I was reading a live report in Japanese today and it was referred to as an anime song (アニソン) there as well lol.
-
I’ve seen some people saying that the song that they originally played on the mode of DSS tour is similar to The Inferno and Midwife.
-
I think I read that it was on the screen. Also someone said that there were pictures of a bunch of famous American serial killers on the screen during that song (the mode of DSS one.)
-
I have been checking 2ch and Twitter and some Japanese blogs so I will update if I find more specifics. The last thing I forgot to add is that the new song with the blastbeat had a part that is reminiscent of New Age Culture (specifically the “time to escape section at 1:35.)

I read some Japanese fan reports of their most recent live show. Here is the info I could gather on new songs. - The 理由 remake has a shortened intro and a rougher guitar tone reminiscent of MoaB. There is some shouting at the end now. - One of the new songs that they just started playing has harsh vocals (they said デスボ in Japanese which means “death voice.” I don’t know if this is for all/most of the song or not as the description was unclear) and a blastbeat. - The song that was played on the Mode of DSS tour is most likely titled “Celebrate Empty Howls.”

Sounds like maybe you just don’t like heavy/aggressive music? I like both bands but your claims of sukekiyo being more sophisticated are a bit pretentious. It’s just different. Why would he want to be in two bands that sound exactly the same?
-
I think they used 被る because it implies that a person’s skin is being worn as a mask. Look at the end of the music video and it makes sense.
-
Changed how? What were the new songs like?
-
I want the 理由 remake to be beautiful and the Deeper Vileness remake to be disgustingly heavy.
-
Kyo looks like a cross between Wolverine and an elderly Skrillex lmao.
-
Kyo has said many times that he hates Guaze, not sure about their other early albums but I think they play old songs every now and then.
-
DSS is my favorite DEG album so that sounds amazing. Ranunculus sounds cool too.
-
How did you get those recordings? I’d really like to hear those songs. Some posters on Japanese boards are saying that the second song is called “I Can’t Love Myself.”
-
These all sound awesome, I like hearing a variety of styles from them. I assume you saw these songs live? I actually liked their last two singles but they were pretty similar to one another structurally stylistically so it will be cool to hear some new songs both heavier and softer than those. I usually prefer their really heavy songs or their melodic ballads over the more straightforward single-y ones. Is the second song you’re talking about the “Punk is Not Dead” one (Japanese fans are calling it “GO MAD”)? I didn’t realize Kyo growled in that, I only heard about Toshiya’s backing vocals but I’m looking forward to it. Every time I read a description whether in English or Japanese it sounds completely different lol. Someone said it sounded like 80s hard rock, another said pop, another said pop-punk, so now it curious. Do the members who do backing vocals live usually perform those vocals on album or does Kyo generally record all the vocals? They never show him recording on the studio footage that they release but I saw one video (I think it was for Utafumi) where it showed the rest of them recording some backing screams/gang vocals.

Utafumi and Ningen wo Kaburu feel Arche-ish instrumentally but with worse mixing and more harsh vocals.
-
There are death growls in Utafumi. He’s been doing more mid range screaming lately though which isn’t really his strong suit in my opinion. Unless there’s a ton of distortion like WtD/MoaB era they sound kinda weak. The first chorus in the remake of IIID Empire is pathetic sounding tbh. It sounded like there were a few growls on Ningen wo Kaburu but the mix is trash so who can tell for sure. There were definitely growls at the end of the IIID Empire remake but again everything is buried in the mix. From what I read at the time it sounds like the new song they played at the DSS tour in 2016 sounded like their DSS era so I’m looking forward to hearing that one.

Is that picture of them at the table from the last music video the album art?
-
If they changed the tuning on the singles then Kyo’s vocals would be out of key. They’d have to re-record everything.
-
I don’t see why Utafumi wouldn’t be included. They always have one single that comes out wayyyy before the album like Hageshisa or Rinkaku. I doubt this will be any different. Plus it sounds aesthetically similar enough to Ningen to be on the same album.
