SID, and it's not even a contest? Sid'll probably end up being the last visual kei band to really make it big, aside from Golden Bomber who were like a vk eulogy as the scene passed away peacefully  from natural causes with no relatives present and to the complete disinterest of the public at large.

    Add xd.

  3. Since 2000 who do you think is the biggest band?. Personally I think SID, Just like the GazettE they had a concert at the Tokyo Dome, But his concerts in Saitama super arena were in stadium mode (37k) and not in arena mode (18k), They also played at yokohama stadium, they also had much greater exposure in the media, Being invited in several occasions to "Music Station", besides that its music was used in really popular animes like "Bleach" or "Fullmetal". In addition they have two certifications of gold of the RIAJ, the GazettE I do not think any.

    What do you think?.

I am surprised to see that no one mentioned Resistar Records, the three groups that are signed on this label Dog in the pwo, Bug-Lug and Blue Billion have a good popularity and most of their final tours take place in large concert halls for indie visual kei bands, like Dog in the pwo who played in Tokyo Dome City Hall which has a capacity of 3,000 places or Bug-Lug who will play in Budokan this coming May.

I mentioned them at the beginning :-P

SID is sony now, afaik. And it's not about what bands they have, is about connections, I believe. Danger Crue seems to be an very "easy" bridge to major distribution, "big" events and advertise, even if not majoring like some of the bands did. DC manages/ed L'Arc, SID, MUCC, Creature Creature, Dead End, etc etc etc. I don't think there's another management/label with so many heavy hitters besides PSC, who are now apparently in a slump, but Gazette/D=OUT seems big enough to keep them afloat just by management.

There's also Free Will and Speed Disk, which are both monsters by themselves with all their sub-labels and distributions, I don't dare dwelving into that

Not saying BP is performing poorly, they are playing smart with one of the biggest bands on the scene today. I just don't know if they have what it takes to jump up the ladder

D=OUT leave psc the last year. I think you're right when you mention contacts, but I do not think B.P. Is having poor performance, they events in stores are quite successful, same the concerts and it seems that fan clubs are increasingly attracting more members (Those of the three bands, not only kiryu).

Danger Crue is where bands should aim for if they wish to actually succeed leaving the indie trench. BP is indeed doing really good, but I don't think they are able to keep finding new Kiryus, and to a lesser extent, Royz...

but danger crue lost a lot of bands, div, girugamesh, now kameleo, The one really important band that is left is SID, And i think they publish under sony, UNiTE is at a lower level of kiryu or royz (Of course talking about popularity)

  7. Their bands are the ones that most cd's sell, Constantly enter the top 10 of the oricon major chart, both singles and albums, Most of their final tours are in the most important live houses in Japan, and kiryu is already playing in arenas like budokan (two times).

And ok PSC have the GazettE (Although they publish under sony), But the other bands do not exist, they are not popular. They were really important until they started losing bands, like SuG, alice nine, miyavi etc etc.

Another label that I believe is currently important is  resistar records, their bands also sell well (better than psc or others labels).

    What do you think?.

Penicillin is the biggest one that comes to mind, since they were god-tier in 1999 and now hit 5~10k sales at best. Don't get me wrong, that's still better than like 95% of the scene, but comparatively it's a stark contrast.

THISSS! Romance in 1998 sold 658,100 copies ... Now they sell less than 10K

ok (stupid google traslate), but still even not show me a source on the Budokan concert, tell you what a friend does not work, I could invent I was there and say it was a huge success.

Visual Kei is smaller than you think.

Yeah, their medium for tour finals are 3000 people. Thats all. They didnt even sold out TDCH some months before Budokan.

if you know japanese just take a fast search about their budokan and you'll see many people making fun about how few people was there.

But i wont flood this topic trying to show you the truth hah Buy a ticket and go to see by yourself, i think you'll be kinda shocked ;)

EDIT : I JUST READ THAT YOU SAID KIRYU SELLS MORE THAN GAZETTE AND SID I SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE STARTED DISCUSSING WITH YOU LMFAO

EDIT 2 : Kiryu is one of my favorite bands. I dont care for GazettE and SID but wow.... JUST USE YOUR BRAIN

what ? I said CURRENTLY, and it is true, the last single of SID sold just 12,000 copies (sorry i'm not native english speaker)

What the laughter I do not think that compares with miyavi Budokan or Tokyo Dome of the GazettE :v.

And I repeat all know that vk is small in Japan, so an indie band that constantly enters the top 10 of ORICON is important ... and definitely in Kiryu budokan there were more than 4000 people.

Tokyo Dome City capacity is 3100 people.

They didn't sold out it until yesterday (they was still selling tickets today). I think they're lying about sold out just because fans would bitch "You don't even sell TDCH why the fuck are you trying Budokan again" hahahah but in any case, if they REALLY sold it, they took all this time, that proves their fanbase is not really bigger than about 3000 people ;)

Trust me, i have couples of friends who were there. There was no more than 4000 people AT ALL.

I disagree :v, I think these underestimating much this band, are not a band that makes finals tours in places for 500 people, or never enters the top 50 of ORICON, there is currently no vk band that sells as much as they. Kiryu is bigger than you think :P.

Yes, im not saying they're not one of the most populars bands in the scene, but they're nothing in Japan. Visual Kei is a really small scene if you dont know.

Kiryu budokan was around 2000~3000 (at max) people ;)

xddddd you're so fun :v :-P, but that's impossible, I'm sorry but it's silly. kiryu has done sold out in TDCH that has that capacity.

And you're right, the scene vk in Japan is small, so it is much more meritorious.

You're being the stupid one here.

Budokan usually have a 360º stage, so yeah, it was HALF of the capacity and they didn't even sold out this.

Kyuubi sold 90k of copies because it was 10 types. Also, because of instore event, fans usually buy 30 or more copies.

So.... It doesn't mean nothing, i'm sorry.

Anyway, i love the new look and love that they'll release a new album! Seems like it gonna be a heavy one, so i just can't wait.

Wish that Budokan was after September so i could go :(

Were 10 types and that? few visual kei bands can do the same?, many bands could throw 10 or 20 different types and they will never sell or 20,000 copies (example Mejibray). Concert kiryu the maximum capacity of budokan should I haver been 10000, and images are clear that it is quite full, not 100% but I would say that 80 or 90%. Kiryu also is far more popular than it was a year ago.

I have the DVD and I know someone who was there. It' was not a "full" Budoukan.

Also I have the dvd, although the Budokan was not completely full (100%, 14k), you can not say it was a semi budokan, in this forum I read people say there were 3,000 people, say that's ridiculous, whereas kiryu plays places like TDCH which has that ability, in Budokan concert had 9000 people easily, even may have been 10000. In this forum too understate bands like kiryu or R-Shitei.

Tokyo Dome City Hall is not Tokyo Dome. It's smaller.

Yeah. Their first oneman at Budoukan was, in fact, a semi Budoukan. Only the half of Budoukan was opened.

where did you read that? Budokan is pretty full, Really you think that a band that sold more than 90k could not fill that place, You're underestimating kiryu.

Another one ? I hope it will be more interresting than the last one. Gyoukasuigetsu was very disappointing and the worst album so far.

And... another oneman at Nippon Budoukan ?! Another "semi-Budoukan" imo.

semi budokan ? god this people is so stupid, kiryu is currently the best-selling band vk, kyuubi sold almost 90000 copies!, now they sell more than the gazette, シ ド or Nightmare.
