Recommended Posts

The two tracks by Romance for~ on the THE END OF THE CENTURY ROCKERS Ⅲ sampler fit together so well that I decided to translate both of them. : ) Maybe somebody enjoys those.

Acacia

いつもと違う今日の夢は
Itsumo to chigau kyou no yume wa

My dream feels different from usual tonight
白い花に包まれて
Shiroi hana ni tsutsumarete

Sheeted with white flowers
綺麗な君が僕に笑いかける
Kireina kimi ga boku ni waraikakeru

As you give me your beautiful smile

何も望まない だから
Nani mo nozomanai

I don't wish for anything more
Dakara
So please
僕の側にいて……
Boku no soba ni ite......

Stay with me......

「夢よ 覚めないで」
"Yume yo

"Dear dream
Samenaide"
Please don't end"
「君がいるのなら」
"Kimi ga iru no nara"

"When you're here"

君が居なくなる前に
Kimi ga inakunaru mae ni

Before you leave me
君の名前は!
Kimi no namae wa!

Your name!
何も変わらずに僕に笑いかける
Nani mo kawarazu ni boku ni waraikakeru

You just give me your unwavering smile

「Acacia」と咲いてくれたのに
"Acacia" to tsubuyaite* kureta no ni

"Acacia", you uttered at me but then
背を向ける…「ア・カ・シ・ア」
Se o mukeru... "A-ca-ci-a"

You turned away... "A-ca-ci-a"

このまま目が覚めて君と会ったことを
Kono mama me ga samete kimi to atta koto o

If I woke up just like that, I might not remember
想い出せないまま 忘れてしまうなら…
The fact that I met you
Wasurete shimau nara...
Should I end up forgetting...

このまま目を閉じていたい
Kono mama me o tojiteitai

I want my eyes to remain shut like this
でも…… いつかは……
Demo......

But......
Itsuka wa......
Sooner or later......
ほら最後に僕に笑いかけ
Hora saigo ni boku ni waraikake

Look, please smile at me until the very end
いつか消えていく…「アカシア」
Itsuka kieteiku... "Acacia"

As you disappear... "Acacia"

「また会えるよね」
"Mata aeru yo ne"

"You know we can meet again"
「君がいるのなら」
"Kimi ga iru no nara"

"When you're here"
「夢で会えるよね」
"Yume de aeru yo ne"

"You know we can meet in my dreams"
「君に会えるなら」
"Kimi ni aeru nara"

"If I can meet you"
「夜 また会おう」
"Yoru

"Let's meet again
Mata aou"
Tonight"

*In the sung version the verb used is 呟いて (tsubuyaite) meaning 'to utter', which makes this the direct speech I've translated it to.
However, in the written lyrics the word 咲いて (saite) meaning "to bloom" is used which alters the meaning to "blooming with the acacia(trees)"

The meaning of white acacia flowers in hanakotoba is longing or yearning (among other things)

限りなく不思議な遠さ
Kagirinaku fushigina toosa

Exceedingly strange distance

憬がれの場所へ今

I wish I could go to that place I saw in my dreams
不思議なほどに輝く
Fushigina hodo ni kagayaku

Strange as much as it shines
すてきな場所へ近づくこと夢を見て歩こう
Sutekina basho e chikazuku koto yume o mite arukou

As I dream about getting closer to that beautiful place I will walk
どこまでも……
Doko made mo......

To the end of the world......

Kimi wa inai

You are not here
Kawaranai keshiki dake nokori
Just the unwavering scenery is left
一人淋しく浮遊してる溺れてる不思議な僕がいた
Hitori samishiku fuyuushiteru oboreteru fushigi na boku ga ita

And there I was alone, lonely, floating, drowning and so strange

限りなく不思議な遠さ

Exceedingly strange distance

Ano sora mite warau

I see that space and smile
Nani mo kawaranai boku no tooi so*
You are my unwavering distant someone
限りなく不思議な遠さ
Kagirinaku fushigina toosa

Exceedingly strange distance
何も変わらない「君と僕」の不思議な遠さ

The unwavering strange distance between "you and me"
遠いほど夢を見て……
Tooi hodo yume o mite......

Dream as far as you are distant......

*The word 人(person) in the written lyrics is pronounced 'hito'. The vocal appears to sing it as 'so', though. There is the archaic expression 夫 (that person) that is pronounced 'so' and that might be why. However, I'm not 100% sure about what he's singing right there, so it might just be a very shitty pronounciation of 'hito' or something completely different even. D :
