アヲイ

One of those indie vk bands i got into before all the other stuff back then.

Around 2004 or so. =D When i was into vk til 2008. I recently got into them again with the listen of abelcain.

Well these guys always are amazing with their angurish/nagoya sound. I really like them and can't say anything bad about them. Otogi has a great voice that matches their music style, from ballads to heavy songs. Im surprised they are still going at it since 2003, plus they became more well known with the release of DEADMAN and they've done some remastered songs. Tho i kinda prefer their original ones.

The best for me so far is 無???ら????歌 and yes i prefer the original ver. of 鈴虫 than the newer one.

I like them quite a bit, definitely because of Otogi's voice. I also like their aesthetic, it's dark and simple instead of being over-designed and it suits their music a lot.

They definitely got an unique experience to convey. Used to be my favorite band, although 99% of their lyrics are suicidal, the "Keep living." ones are the ones that make you stay with them when you don't wanna get depressed or suicide yourself. Irony.

Awoi is the sht man. My fav band and nothing so far nothing has really come close to this band as in similarity. Its crazy how perfect awoi does there sht and even more crazier that the drummer Ryo [Underestimated in my opinion] of this band is so fking good yet idek know if he ever had previous bands i dont think. Every talks about other bands because of new releases and honestly my dream would be for this band to come back but sadly it wont.

 

I feel like ill forever be stuck in the past on this band at the same time i dont.

 

Also whats your opinion on the  Futekigou na ringo mini. I didn't think it was as good as the other releases and feel as tho this mini is different from the rest.

Ryo is very underestimate, I wish he had a youtube cover channel do get more known (like girugamesh Ryo Trackmaker)

-- フテキゴウな林檎  is not my favourite release, and probably not one that represent the most the awoi spirit, but I loved all their release for some of their specificities.

SAW has a nice second part (1m51 to end)

拝啓、愛しくも冷たい絶望の雨 is really cool in live, enjoying the rythmic dance a lot.

I like a lot the refrain of 午前0時の蟻とショートケーキ, but not a lot the rest of the song.

bakemono  is really awesome, one my favourite song

イヴ is a nice ballad, but not my favourite, ひぐらし is their best.

夢 refrain is really captivating followed by a simple but cool guitar solo.

 

 

罠 from 蜘蛛の糸 is one my least favorite from awoi, but the clear passage is really constrating the rest of the song and I like it only because of this ^^

The song is too much trashy for me.

 

 

I have followed awoi since end of 2007.

There was a BIG part of my life, I had spend MONEY and TIME on them. But I have not regret

Ive been meaning to respond to this post but due to technical difficulties i never got the chance as you can see on my status. 

 

I feel similarly about -- フテキゴウな林檎. 

 

Review:

SAW: is a ok song i feel like he shows of vocals/screams that haven't been seen in his previous works but i disagree with most of the execution like you said the first part is a big turn off for me.

拝啓、愛しくも冷たい絶望の雨: A wonderful Master piece 

 午前0時の蟻とショートケーキ: Very unexpected type of song. I like it but i didnt know that the band would do something so different

Bakemono: Like i feel relaxed when i hear this one its real nice.

イヴ: Im very particular about my ballads this is something im not much of a fan of.

Yume: has to be my favorite outta all the songs in this release. Second is 拝啓、愛しくも冷たい絶望の雨.

 

My favorite Maxi-single by them is 絶望の太陽. My favorite mini album is Zacro. Besides the best release my favorite album by them is Aoi the second

 

There worst songs i agree 罠. Siva is bad as well. Also Beauty from the abelcain single. I honestly think there worst release was Owari no Melody. I honestly could only get into like 3 songs which are: レクイエム, 雨と煙, and Calling

 

I starting listening to awoi in 2012 actually like a year before announcing there disband. I never knew about their other releases until probably 2014. I wish i could see them live one day but that is no longer able to happen sadly.

Improper discography

My favorite release will ever be 真っ暗、真っ黒、真っ赤々な朝.

This is the true アヲイ spirit for me.

 

I love a lot the way they took year by year.

But this heavy and slow instrumental, the otogi deep debut voice. 

This is what made me love them.

 

My favorite track is 恋愛写真.

 

I love ZACRO a lot, this is the year (2009) when アヲイ really start their change, also with the maxi インソムニア.

To let you know, ララバイ was a old track from 子守唄 from end of 2007. But I have no idea if it sound like the release one, or if it was more a demo version.

 

I love a lot the mini ア・カペラ, probably more than 終わりのメロディ.

calling is one of those track from them that I have now probably too much listened because I think it was overated (like the abelcain maxi).

 

I took the most pleasure to listen to their new release, with NARAKA & 連鎖.

連鎖 is phenomenal.

 

I don't find that Siva is so bad, the refrain 1m30 is pretty awesome, but it similare to 罠 because the rest is pretty trashy.

 

For me their last release ブラックホール was a pretty good-bye from them.

 

I'm hoping for a * year anniversary, which I would go absolutely also.

There is still hope (cross fingers)

You seem to like a lot of the slow paced tracks for me its the opposite. I believe Otogi is a god timing his vocals in songs besides some releases mentioned. As well as balancing the songs to be nice and sweet to brutal as fk. 

 

They should have remastered the rest of the tracks on zacro that would have been sick as hell.

 

I think abelcain was there 2nd worst maxi despite i do love all but one of the songs (I see abelcain different and generic at the same time idk how what to think of the song). That release is next to  五月の思ひ出 (配布CD) as the worst of all. If it even counts as the worst.  I agree that abelcain is overrated.

 

The remasters/compilation albums toward the end really solidified the band. I feel It put together the pieces/ songs of the band that were separated by the countless live only releases as well as some favorite hits. 

 

Black hole i feel like they should have expanded black hole into a maxi. His deep deep voice in that was so amazing just that scream alone id love to see 2 more songs of but its ok lol. 

 

真っ暗、真っ黒、真っ赤々な朝 for this release i feel was a master piece of course remastered came later. I think it captured the soul of the band. You used the word spirit that works too. The remastered versions of the songs i feel were better but of course this release is where it started so yes i agree with you.

五月の思ひ出 (配布CD) as the worst release ? Oh my gosh @Axius

This is one of my favourite.

The real heart of アヲイ on live.

Otogi had his shynny deep voice.

This was the only live stuff from them during so many years... and on good quality !

Listen to the track 3, the screams of Otogi on 独唱 are epic.

This release contains also a part of one of their unreleased tracks.

 

I remember being so happy when I got this one ^^

 

I miss them, not only for the sound, also for the love I had to obtain something of them.

I need to find another band to follow lol
