[HELP] Help with different region DVD's

Hey guys! 

 

I was wondering if I could get some help here. So i purchased Kalafina's After Eden DVD from an ebay merchant in Taiwan. The DVD region is 3 i believe and apparently there's a limited amount of times you can change the region setting. I used another one of the region switches before when playing a GazettE DVD. Once I change it back to US (since i have a crapton of 24 seasons to make it through), I'll be unable to change it ever again.  Is there some program that i can use that will let me play DVD's regardless of what region it is? 

 

IF that is not possible...could someone help me with finding a program that will recognize different region DVD's so i can at least make a VOB file/Mp3 Rips for myself (and whoever wants em)?

I always use DVD Decrypter for these cases.

 

it will bypass the region lock (most of the time? I've only had a problem with one of ONE OK ROCK old dvds so far) and rip the DVD to VOB

Also I think VLC player can play them with no problem

If you just want a player, VLC Media Player has successfully played all my non-region 1 DVDs, without any complications. Give that a try!

I tried VLC. It shows and acknowledges that the DVD is present but doesnt play it.

 

As for the DVD de-crypter, its working!! Thanks @Rezker!!!   

Do you have anything for MP3 makers?

for mp3 maker i always use DVD Audio Extractor

 

it takes the dvd (also bypasses reagion most of the times) or VOB files and turns them into mp3s 

 

its what i've used for all the audio rips i've posted here.

Long story short, the reason why there are region locks for different parts of the world and devices sold there, (was) is to prevent early releases of movies, or any other media, and selling early copies across the world. Why do you think movies/CD's/etc come out at different times of year for everyone?

Obviously people can work around this, so I don't know why they even try to implement this rule anymore.

 

VLC should have worked. Did you disable the option to automatically detect the DVD, and play it manually?

Also, can you take a screenshot of the error on VLC if it continues to happen?

 

If it's not too much trouble, can you also screenshot the model CD/DVD drive you have on your PC?

Perhaps their may be firmware (RPC-1) that can be installed to unlock the full potential of your drive. RPC-2 is basically the blackbox of DVDs lol.

And how do i get the info on the Drive model?  Now that you mention it....this computer is pretty "old"

Its just happens to run windows 7 pretty smoothly.

This is important b/c it will determine how difficult it will be to change the Firmware, if it's at all possible.

 

At work right now, so I can't tell you exactly how to disable that feature, but I'll do it when I get home.

Fuuuuuck. An 852S? Those were hard as hell to hack because it was hardware locked. I don't know if there exists a firmware hack for it right now. I'll look around and ask some people.

 

Is this a Lenovo or Compaq PC by chance??

 

Also, have you tried going into the cd drive folder, and playing the .ts file for the vid manually yet with VLC?

 

edit: Bad news man. There exists no firmware update for it, according to the techies I know.

Yeah i tried bro and nada. 

 

I had to change the region back to play my other DVD's which used up my last switch so these programs aren't gonna work for me until i get a new computer...this one is really old. 

 

Thanks anyways guys. I really appreciate the help.  At least i know what programs 2 use now!
