Things you miss while you are in Japan

Recommended Posts

Yes,

What do you miss from home when you live or if you are on vacation in Japan.

I miss the GOOD BEER!

In Japan such awful beer.

Last year I saw such bitter taste lemon thing 9%.. I didn't like it.. but this year on the last day I saw new 9%. Gosh... such delicious drink, no bitter taste just kinda lemon/grapefruit taste. Gonna be my replacement of beer the next time I go there.

But yes, the thing I miss is GOOD BEER.

German, Dutch, Belgian bier.

Food, I don't really miss. I miss Japanese food when I'm home. 100% the Rice and Noodles.

So what do you miss from home?

I guess I miss cheap fruit since fruit in Japan seems to be pretty expensive but honestly the rest of the food is so good that it is not a big deal.

I missed tasty pizza for a reasonable price.

You either pay 500-1000 yen for a shitty pizza (with the exception for Napolis Pizza chain, which isn't THAT good anyway) or end up paying 3000 yen for a pizza which is just too much.

Funny that you dislike Japanese beer, most of my favorite beers to this day come from Japan. Although I guess Sweden isn't that big of a beer brewing country anyway. I love Kirin, Sapporo, Asahi etc. I also love the even cheaper ones from the really obscure supermarkets (like Piago's own beer for 70yen).

Like Nagisa said, I also miss cheap fruit. The fruit in Japan is so damn expensive.

What I miss from Japan in Sweden: JAPANESE FOOOOOOOD (and liquor (umeshu *-*)).

Also our cabbages are a different kind than the ones in Japan (and also expensive as fuck). I miss Japanese mushrooms, and japanese fast food chains (like sukiya). I miss izakaya etc etc etc. (I'm longing for the day when I can once again taste the heavenly Kyabetsu mori dish from Torikizoku, which is my favorite izakaya lol).

In the end, I miss more from Japan in Sweden than from Sweden in Japan, lol.

edit: yes, i love cabbage xD

So you even liked the beer???

I didn't try the beer there tbh XD my brother drunk it and laughed so I figured I shouldn't even dare to try it lol beside that I'm not THAT much of beer fan anyway

but now that Nagisa mentioned it, I agree about the fruit thing. 2 weeks without cheap fuit were okay with me but I'm sure I'd  have missed it after a while

What I miss from Japan in Sweden

So we're also gonna talk about what we miss from Japan too?

JAPANESE FOOOOOOOD

I AGREEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!  I want to eat at T's TanTan again ;(

And I fucking miss Harajuku with its weird looking people, the fact that no one really cared how I looked, how easy it was to get your hands on VK stuff, going shopping in Takeshita, how easy everything suddenly was with a Suica and oh god I even miss the music in the back before the train left whenever I'm in the munich railway station I feel like something is missing lol

Fresh fruit and meat at more reasonable prices, good cheese outside of specialist shops, salty liqourice which is almost the only kind of candy I enjoy eating, and finally and probably most importantly, my friends.

Attending a bunch of amazing lives is fun and all but it would be more fun to go with people you know.

Lies. I'm not too familiar with Japanese beer, but Asahi, Kirin and Kiuchi offers some to notch beer. Just superb stuff.

In general I didn't miss anything, I just love being in Japan too much.

BUT, if I'll point out smaller things, I miss the swedish carbonated water (we have tons of flavours) and licorice! (my mom hade to send me licorice when I was in japan for 1 semester). Also, like mentioned above, I miss the fruit/vegetable prices in sweden... I feel so unhealthy in japan since I barely buy fruits or vegetables...

I tried soo many.. but It cannot beat my hometown area beer brand. Japanese beer is tasteless its like drinking water. Or they add a yuck taste like suntori or something called like that...

So, no Japanese bier for me, still kirin is the best but taste also not that great.

Just give me those 9% drinks or wine while im in Japan. (o^-^o)

And yes at home I also miss Japanese food a lot.
