Best free programme to rip DVD to pc.

DVDFab does a pretty bang up job. The free version only allows you to copy the DVD in a DVD folder structure (ie. VOB files). Paid version can of course rip to .avi, .mp4, etc. But, if they just want the DVD on their PC, I'd go for DVDFab

Forgot about Handbrake. Can use it to copy DVDs to AVI/whatever. Linux version available as well. You'll have to use DVDFab or something similar if the DVD has copyright protection first.

I've never had any problems with these... I always copypaste files easily, there is no protection and I don't know about the region locks, I live in Europe, so we use the same region as Japan.

I usually copypaste the files and convert them with Total Video Converter... but it isn't free I think. I don't remember xD

I use DVD Decrypter. I'm pretty sure it's freeware.

01. use dvd shrink make dvd to iso

02. and use handbrake convert iso to m4v
