Ushinawareta watashi

Lost self*

Kudake ochiru boku no karada o dakiyosete

Embrace my body as it shatters and falls

Kare hajimeta

The withering began
Yūhi shizumu
The evening sun sets
Wasurerarenu kioku
My haunting memories
Tsukiakari ni

Bathed in moonlight
Tsumetai kage
An icy silhouette
Hada o naderu kuchizuke
Kisses stroking my skin
Kinō wa sari

Yesterday is gone
Now I'm breaking down, losing myself, manipulated by someone else
Nakunaru sono toki

That moment is dying

Ushinawareru ishiki no naka de…

Drifting through my lost consciousness...
…Samayou boku no kokoro wa kie
...my heart falls silent
Ano toki no shūchi to nikushimi ga boku no naka de kurui mau

Shame and hatred of that time are dancing wildly inside of me

Hitori no boku

Me, alone
Tsugi no anata
Then there's you
Wakareta jinkaku ni
A separate personality
Togirete yuku

It's stopping
Kokoro no kodō
The beat of my heart
Nani mo kikoenai
I can't hear anything at all

Ushinawareru ishiki no naka de…

Drifting through my lost consciousness...
…Samayou boku no kokoro wa kie
...my heart falls silent
Seirei to akuma ni toritsukareta karada

A body that's possessed by spirits and demons
Ushinawareta watashi
A lost self
Yanusu no obuje
A janus sculpture**

Yami no naka de…

In the dark...
…Kasureta koe ga sakebu kyōki to shōki no naka de mawaru warutsu
Hoarse voices are screaming, spinning in a waltz of madness and sanity
Tell me why
Tell me why
itsumo boku no naka ni dareka ga iru
There's always someone inside me
Toki to ishiki o nakushita obuje no naka ni

Inside this sculpture of lost time and consciousness

Karada kara chīsaku mushiri torareta kokoro no jinkaku-tachi

Each small piece of heart torn from my body is another personality
Nagai nemuri ni tsukasareta boku no kokoro to karada wa ima wa

My heart and body are tired from sleeping too long, they are now
Tsurusareta obuje
A sculpture hung by the neck

Yami no naka de…

In the dark...
…Kasureta koe ga sakebu kyōki to shōki no naka de mawaru warutsu
Hoarse voices are screaming, spinning in a waltz of madness and sanity
Tell me why
Tell me why
itsumo boku no naka ni dareka ga iru
There's always someone inside me
Toki to ishiki o nakushita obuje no naka ni

Inside this sculpture of lost time and consciousness

*The title of the song is the japanese title of the non fiction novel Sybil by  Flora Rheta Schreiber. The song was also rereleased as Read on for babble and spoilers on the book.

The book documents the true story of a woman whose personality split 16 times due to severe abuse throughout her childhood, each personality representing a trauma of her own.
The lyrics are strongly influenced by the book, too, especially in how the split personalities are perceived (Being taken control of and not being able to remember what happened) and the artistic themes as well(The real sybil was an artist)
The main difference is that the protagonist in the lyrics is male and instead of only trying to kill himself (as sybil did) he seems to actually succeed (?)
The romantic undertones in the song are completely absent in the book as well.

**Janus is a roman god who is almost always portrayed with two faces, sometimes even more.

The original lyrics do contain the spaces between lines but not the paragraphs, they were added by me to keep it readable since the romaji and translation lengthens the whole thing quite a bit.
