Spanish Music

Recommended Posts

Hello Everybody! I am on the hunt for some Spanish music and was hoping you guys would be able to help me out in finding some. :) I am studying spanish and would like to expand my limited knowledge of spanish music. That being said I won't turn away good music because of a language, so if they are a spanish group that sings in english that is cool too! I also don't really care about which country they are from either mexico, spain, chile, peru, etc it is all good to me^^  As far as genre goes I am pretty much open to anything. It would be really great to find some spanish rock music though! I mostly know of pop rock groups. In case anybody else is interested I will post some videos of some of the singers/groups that I know :)

I actually know a bit since I was curious about Spanish music a few years ago. Discovered a lot of good stuff, but it was mostly pop-rock stuff. However, spanish rock music from the 80's and 90's is totally magical.

Examples:

Caifanes - Viento

Love the bass playing on this track.

La Union - Hombre Lobo En Paris

Enanitos Verdes - Lamento Boliviano

Hombres G -  Te Quiero

Soda Stereo - Persiana Americana

Also can't mention spanish rock and not mention Mana. They're like the biggest modern Spanish rock band out there.

Mana - Angel de amor

Mana - En el muelle de San Blas

Some Powermetal
Warcry - Que vengan ya

And this one is in English.
Dark Moor - Maid Of Orleans

Pandabear, I'm thoroughly enjoying the groups in your first post.  Loving that 80's/90's sound.

My Spanish music interests are mainly (indie) pop oriented.

Papa Topo (Mallorca)

Wildcard band with dual male/female vox.  Sometimes stupidly poppy/catchy, sometimes beautifully classic and bossa nova-esque, sometimes chaotic and punky.  ALWAYS fun music videos (usually with some morbid aspect).  A new favorite!  Occasionally, they'll do a song in their Mallorcan dialect!

Belanova (Mexico)
Good synth pop, nice female vox.

La Casa Azul (Spain)
Some definite "shibuya kei" influences here.  I'm not too fond of their newer material, but I enjoy these older tracks a lot.
