Was that last sentence hard to understand? Let me try one more time: In general there's a lot more to making good cover songs than just knowing how to play it, which is also why it's so hard to make good covers of even the simplest songs. Which again is the reason why 95% of all cover songs of bands such as Bathory, Misfits, Motörhead, Darkthrone, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Venom and whatever band you want to add into the mix rarely surpass mediocre. For most part they don't even manage to reach mediocre. They just suck.

Of course Ace of Spades, or Motörhead in general, isn't hard to play, but that's beside the point. A cover song isn't automaticly good because you know how to play the song. It has almost nothing to do with it. Motörhead was as much about the attitude as the riffs and music themself, and unless you have some kind of a badass attitude to your yourself and your band, you sholdn't even consider covering Motörhead. I've heard quite a lot of Motörhead covers and I have yet to hear one that's actually good. They're mediocre at best. And I think the Tokyo Yankees cover was pretty bad myself. In general there's a lot more to covering a song than just knowing how to play it, which is why it's so hard to cover even the simplest songs.

Treasure Planet is such an underrated movie IMO. Imaginative, funny, charming and amazingly futuristic and retro at the same time. The characters aren't all that great, but everything else is good and the animation is superb. I also like how adult-esque it is. A very mature film, if you ask me.

I can't stop laughing at this shit. So much fun.

I recently watched Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (10/10), Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (10/10) and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (9/10) to get meself ready for the new film, and I am as big of a fan in 2016 and I was in 1997. I obviously love all three films, and I think Return of the Jedi is really udnerrated. Might be because I never had a problem with the Ewoks. I'm not a big fan of them, but they don't bother me either. Anyway, these films are lots of fun! Shaolin Mantis - Old chool martial arts flick by Chia-Liang Liu, starring David Chiang, Lily Li, Chia Yung Liu, Norman Chu and Cecilia Wong. It's got a rather complex story with lots of drama and a long, nice build-up before it takes the martial arts fan inside of you to a trip to heaven with amazingly choreographed fights, a fan-fuckin-tastic training session and even more great fighting. Yeah, I really liked this film. Thought it was superb. Nice cameo by Gordon Liu too!
  6. Fuck me, how good is that? Superb as usual from these aussie maniacs! Killer track!

Army of Darkness - This slapstick horror-comedy is underrated as fuck. 1. Goovy! 2. Gimme some sugar, baby! 3. Hail to the king, baby. Enough said! Ash vs Evil Dead - Holy fuck, this was awesome. A horror-comedy TV-series that is not an anthology series and that delivers? How'd have thought? It's true and respectful to the trilogy, but without just rehashing. It's new and it's fresh, but still so nice and familiar. It's funny, it's hilarious, it's bloody, it's gory and it's goofy as fuck. It's god damn groovy! And Bruce Campbell? King! The one big disappointment here is the use of CGI, because the CGI is awful. Te practical special effects are lovely, but every single episode has a moment or three with godawful CGI, which does take some of the edge off. But if you're a fan of the film series there's no reason not to check this out, cuz this is gonna please the fuck out of you! Killer soundtrack too. Death (the punk band), Deep Purple, The Stooges, AC/DC, PJ Harvey, Alice Cooper and more. Really happy there's a new season coming this year. Should be fun!

Evil Dead II - Fun, original and exciting horror-comedy with a tremendous Bruce Campbell, insane special effects and lot sof awesome shots. Both the first films are filled with incredible shots that you wouldn't see in other films at the time. The big question: which one's best, the first or secod film? Impossible! Both are more or less perfect. Will watch Army of Darkness after work, then start on the TV-series. I can't wait!

Really? It had me captivated from the first picture, and from there on I could barely stop watching. Only stopped for going to work actually. I loved the first season and had huge expectations, but this was way beyond what I had dared to wish for. Makes the first season look like childrens games. And the soundtrack? Wow, top fucking notch! So good, man. I really liked Mike Milligan, which is one of the coolest characters made for TV, and Hanzee was badass! Spoiler for season 2: And: BRUCE god damn CAMPBELL! A very, very good season. So much win! I'm gonna watch Army of Darkness when I get home from work today, then start watching Ash vs. Evil Dead which looks so cool. Massive expectations!

Christ, the new seaon of Fargo is good. Season one was excellent, but this is just way better than the first season in every way possible. This is nothing short of brilliant. Some of the best shit made for TV over the past 10 years.

Go to Norway. There you don't need no education to get a decent-good job.

Motörhead are very popular in every metal, and some some degree, punk circles, but as far as I know they weren't nearly as big outside of the metal/punk community in Japan, as in e.g Norway, Germany or USA. Not that I really know shit, though. Brilliant band.

Circle - Good low-budget sci-fi thriller/horror. The concept isn't very original or anything. You've seen similar stuff in films sucha s Cube, Would You Rather, and hell, even some of the Saw films. The film got a strong The Twilight Zone-vibe to it, and I really like that. It's a bit to long IMO and the dialogue were a bit corny at times, and I wish we would get more answered to some of the moral questions in the film, but I really liked the atmosphere and nihilistic point of view the film took. It's pretty bleak overall. Recommended for sure.

The Visist - After several disaters, M. Night Shyamalan decided to try something new. Or old. Depends on how you want to see it. With a budget of only 5m, The Visit is Shyamalan going back to basics. It's a stipped down found footage film with great creepy atmosphere, which he breaks up every now and then with some very funny humor. It's a bit out of place at times, but it works fairly well. Really enjoyed this film. I thought out lead Olivia DeJonge did very well, as well as Deanna Dunagan and Peter McRobbie doing pretty well. Woo the hell would've thought this guy would ever make a good film again? I sure didn't. Now I am not gonna claim he's 100% back, after all his four films before this was After Earth, The Last Airbender, The Happening and Lady in the Water. But it shows he's still got a good film deep inside him, and hopefully we'll see more of this side from now on.

I think I will check out Keel just based on the title of their release alone. I doubt the music will match it, but it won't hurt to try it out.
  18. Deströyer 666 - Wildfire Fuck yeah! I can't wait for this!

What We Do in the Shadows - Very nice, funny and original horror-comedy mocumentary following four flat mates which just happens to be vampires. Now, there's not a proper plot or anything here, but it's just real fun for what it is. I was giggling or laughing throughout the whole film. Really cool and funny. Just to sum up how funny this is: Vladislav, one of the vampires, calls himself Vlad the poker. Jesus, that's just too funny! The Evil Dead - Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell should be a familiar name to everyone into horror, so should this film. Great film in every way possible. Cool cast, superb special effects and so on. Brilliant!

Shaolin Prince / Iron Fingers of Death - Very fun, slightly wuxia-inspired martial arts film by choreographer Chia Tang who choreographed well over 100 films, and as expected the choreography is both fun, good and very interesting. It's creative and cool. Chia Tang only directed three films, and while this was his first attempt it's a very impressive one. At times weird, but very fun. The film stars Ti Lung, Derek Yee and Jason Pai Piao, and all are great. Especially Jason Pai Piao as our villain Ninth Lord. A truly cool-as-fuck villain. THere's some hilarious comedy thrown in too, mainly by three, silly-as-fuck monks. Anyway, great film! Shaolin Rescuers - A fairly standard, but really god damned good martial arts flick by my man Chang Cheh, with the Venom Mob and Jason Pai Piao. The opening scene are incredible, like in a lot of these films. A number of figures battle the evil Priest Pai Mei. Lots of amazing martial arts battles, both training sessions and proper fights, humor, a great villain and much more. The last fight is incredible, and esily the highlight here. Another superb Chang Cheh film! Hero!

I hope for your sake that you're not a H.P. Lovecraft fanatic, because a lot of the die hard fans tends to be disappointed by these films as very few of them are faithful to the source material. But if you don't go into them expecting a faithful adaption, a lot of them should please you. Insidious: Chapter 3 - I really liked the two first films in the series, and I really looked forward to this. But due to James Wan leaving the series, and writer Leigh Whannell taking his job as a director in his directorial debut, I was quite sceptic. But I was entertained, but it doesn't really have the impact of the two first. Not even close. First off, it's more of the same, just not quite as good. Second off, there is a few really out-of-character scenes with Elise that's godawful. No idea why they went in that direction. So weird. Third off, while there was cheap jump scares in the two others, this relies soley on jump scares, which is a shame considering the best parts of the film i when they calm it down and build an eerie, chilly atmosphere. Which James Wan did a lot in the two first films. But a few of the jump scares are fairly well-done, so I recommend watching this with a good surround system and turning up your volume quite a bit. My girlfriend complained about chest pains afterwards, mainly because of the sound. Heh. It's not very well-acted either. But if you liked the two first ones, I see no reason not to watch this. 6/10, while the two first were 8/10. Crimson Peak - After the embarrassment that was Pacific Rim it's good see Guillermo del Toro back on the right track. A beautifully shot, visually stunning and atmospheric gothic horror film with a lot of nods to the 60's gothic horror, especially classic Hammer Horror tales. It's soapy and romantic, but also eerie and chilly at the same time. While not a masterpiece, I thought it was really enjoyable. The CGI ghosts, though. The fuck? They look cheap and ugly, and really out of place. And because of this, the majority of moments that are made to make you shiver, will make you look at it in disgust instead, which is a shame. But overall a really nice film.
  22. Despite being awfully consistent with not a single weak album in their 40 years and 23 album long career. No matter which one you ut on you're in for a good ride, but the quality is a bit up and down of courser.. But there's five Motörhead albums I consider a must in everysingle metal fans collection: Overkill Ace of Spades Iron Fist Orgasmatron 1916 No Sleep 'til Hammersmith is a must too, to be honest. Might be the very best album ever. These albums are everything a rock 'n' roll and heavy metal fan should want from a rock/heavy metal album. Brilliant albums, all of them. Motörhead was also one of the very first rock/metal bands I got into. The majority of us skateboarders used to listen to stuff like Motörhead, Suicidal Tendencies, Bad Religion, The Offspring, Pennywise and so on, so they got played a lot during the 10 years I skated a lot.

Ikuinen Kaamos should be what you're looking for. Maybe not exactly Morningrise, but they sure sounds like older (aka pre-prog rock) Opeth. It's not rare to see people talka bout them as an Opeth-clone/rip off. Very similar. Edge of Sanity could be another one. Thinking mainly about Crimson and Cryptic. Not very similar, but could be worth trying. Crimson is a most brilliant album. And Katatonia's "Brave Murder Day" could be something up your alley . Great album, but not very similar. But could easily be a bit what you're after anyway. This was hard.

The Final Girls was so good that I am gonna rewatch it with my girlfriend today. Can't wait!
  25. Been listening to this a lot lately, and this might be Wrest's best work till now, and his vocals are so fucking good. Easily his best performance ever. And I really like the Krieg homage 4.30 into Within Thrall. The Sick Winds Stir the Cold Dawn!
