  1. Bands i don't like:

    All Oshare music...period.

    You should try out Canzel.

Many an Oshare-hater has found that this band is actually "not bad" for oshare (most find them to be actually good) and definitely one of the best in the genre. They're fairly heavy in some songs and never do that so-happy-I-could-shit-rainbows type sound.

    Allegro

sore wa kareha ga maichiru goro ni

They're actually one of my favorites. (sorry, any chance to share this band with people)

    Anyone like them?

If you haven't listened to them yet, and you like high-energy experimental rock music, do yourself a favor and check them out. They don't take themselves too seriously and apparently have one of the funnest live shows ever. But with a name like "Foxy Shazam," what else would you expect?

Their sound can be divided into three fairly distinct eras, with each album.

With their first album, "The Flamingo Trigger" the played mostly loud, yet experimental "post hardcore" type stuff, featuring piano.

    Here's some examples:

    FOVJ2cWHOcA

    CRz2A-jS73w

    (Everyone loves the ridiculous breakdown)

The second album, "Introducing" toned down the loudness and showed off the piano a little more. The vocalist also "sings" a lot more and shows that he's very capable.

    rcePPeM0RBc

    sp0wbrzRghA

(Probably my favorite track by them)

Finally, with their recent third album, they've done another style change. They incorporated a LOT of new genres like glam, pop-rock, and even soul, along with an actual member that plays trumpet! It's hard to believe it's the same band as the one who did Flamingo Trigger, but most people seem to also enjoy this album as well. It's very fun, yet well-crafted pop music.

    tg4CPaKzSUU

    IuCd2LGju6I

Personally, I like all three albums. I'm not sure which one I like best, actually... Hopefully you guys can find at least one era that you like, if you haven't heard them before!

EDIT: I fixed all the youtube links, so they were embedded. Not sure why they were messed up in the first place.

  3. I have a few visual kei CD's for sale. The mint CD's were only handled once or a few times so that I could rip the songs to my computer. So rest assured that they are all in excellent condition and complete with any booklets, obi spine cards, cases, etc. that were originally included. Otherwise, the condition is explained.

    -We can negotiate the prices.

-You are responsible for any customs charges that your country may incur!

    -Paypal only, please

-Just ask if you have any other questions, need more pictures, etc.

  4. ^ You completely missed my point .___.

I was being more excessive than usual but that was to get more back on topic and less "attacking each other's opinions in a hate thread".

    I apologize then, Zesshoku.

The point still stands, though, for plenty of others at least.

  5. 1) Live distributed CD's are really annoying.

    2) People bragging over the live distributed CD's they got are really annoying.

    3) But you know what, people complaining over these people can get annoying as well.

Don't let it bother you! You said it yourself Zesshoku, "Get over it, it's the Internet. Stop taking everything so seriously and you'll last a lot longer." (And this isn't directed at you. Just a general opinion I've had.)

[4) And now I'm complaining, so I'm annoying too! But I swear, this is the only complaint I'll do, just to make a point!]

The way I see it: If someone gets some rare CD, more power to them. If they want to share it, awesome! If they don't, that's fine too. And if they're gonna be blatantly dicky about it, don't let it affect you. If you get too upset, you're probably giving these folks the exact response they were looking for! Satisfaction, knowing that they can indeed affect someone they don't even know, just through typing. Calm down, it's just the fucking internet. Mine would be a sad world, if I let petty internet "drama" affect me. An interesting way to look at it, hopefully putting this in perspective, is the fact that by being in forums, Livejournal communities, last.fm etc, we're practically subjecting ourselves to potentially douche-tastic behavior. For instance, I've only met one other Japanese music fan in my area, so I hardly had any exposure to all this supposed "annoying fandom" behavior until I came to these internet places. It's my choice, but since I don't give two shits, their antics don't get to me. I simply laugh off the retarded behavior and move on, unfazed! And you should to! (As in, don't go write some angry blog or clutter up a last.fm shoutbox with how much you hate those "elitist fags" with their "stupid rarez" that "probably don't even sound good," that you still want to hear...) In summary, stop caring, :staru: 'Twill work wonders.

    Now, back to hating music!

  6. I hate Kiryu for having such awful songs they make my ears bleed.

I love Kiryu for having such wonderful songs that make my ears happy.

I hate this thread for being mostly useless Dir en Grey "discussion", but Champ's comment on the VK fan hierarchy was pretty epic.

  7. But not all Oshare kei bands are talentless people just trying to be cute... such as Aicle, they are actually quite talented if you ask me.
Truth. A lot of people are put off by Emiru's vocal style (understandably. It is pretty weird at first) and end up missing out on some really unique and crazy music. Rubi plays some insane riffs!

  8. I'll admit right now, I was NOT impressed by Black Bird.

And that's a shame because I actually love ShauJuk in most of his previous stuff.

Then there was "Sexual Desire." That still didn't do much for me.

But finally, we have their second single and I can safely say they have proven themselves to me.

    The highlights for me were:

-a lot less strained sounding falsetto, but where it is used, it fits more

    -more engaging compositions

    -generally a better/more cohesive sound

This single gets at least an 8/10 after the first listen. It'll probably go up, though!

  9. Also, it always makes me uncomfortable how the people blogging deal with these situations.

It's always "we made you fans worry. We're so sorry. Please forgive us that he died!"

I don't know... It's strange to me how unemotional they can be.

It could be the sincerity or the sorrow is lost in translation; it could be an intrinsic need to be polite. And who knows, exactly, what to say or how to address fans when someone they're close to dies? I mean, we say "I'm sorry" too. Finding the words, especially a day after a death, is tricky.

It doesn't neccessarily mean they're not emotional, though. Hell, some of the blogs about Daisuke's death were wholly depressing.

That's true. I guess I was only really referring to these initial "announcements" being so clinical.

The personal blogs that come afterward are more emotional.

  10. Okay, how many bassists have died, just in this past year?

This would be at least the third!

I've never heard of so many young people just keeling over one day, in all the western bands I listen to. What the fucking fuck is going on?

Also, it always makes me uncomfortable how the people blogging deal with these situations.

It's always "we made you fans worry. We're so sorry. Please forgive us that he died!"

I don't know... It's strange to me how unemotional they can be.

  11. I second Subliminal's recommendation of mukunoki.

I've used his service 10+ times and have never had any problems.

He's certainly reliable and stays in contact. Yeah, the price starts to add up, but he sends estimates before going through with purchases so you can decide if you really want to pay "x amount" for whatever you're buying.

  12. Okay, continuing Puresound-related questions.

I emailed them with my order and they responded today.

After the summary of how much I need to pay (items+shipping cost+random fee), there's this huge paragraph.

    ????????????NICOS??????????????

    NICOS HP?????????????????????

    ??????????NICOS HP?????????????????

    ????????????????????????????????????????

    ??????????????NICOS HP???????????????????????????????

    ?????????????????????????????

    ?*????????????NICOS HP????????????????????????????????

    ??NICOS????????????????????????????????????????????????

    ???????1??????????????NICOS HP??????????????1??????????????????

    ?????????????????????

    ????????????????

So anyone who's ordered before, what exactly am I supposed to do at this point?

  13. I think there was a similar post on the old TW, so here it is again!

If you have any questions/concerns about the various CD shops, post them here.

    _______________________________

    I'll start.

    (1) I ordered a CD from I.D.Pilot (http://idpilotonline.jp/) on June 26.

I got what appeared to be a confirmation email that same day, saying they got my order.

It's now July 14 and I haven't heard back from them. I emailed them about a week ago and still nothing...

Fortunately, it appears the money was never charged from my credit card.

Still, does anyone know what may be the problem?

    (2) Does Puresound (http://www.puresound.co.jp/) have overseas shipping? For whatever reason, I was under the impression that they can ship overseas. I've looked on the site and I don't really see any "how-to" for overseas shipping, like brand x and closet child have. Maybe I missed it... So basically, if they DO indeed do overseas shipping, how do you do it?

Finally, a little update. I posted about CD Japan's new fedex shipping option on the old TW. There were some speculations about trouble with customs. I went through with my order of 2 CD albums anyway. I live in America and they arrived one day after the release date with no customs charges! So, at least if you're in the US, give it a try!

  14. Jonjon, as you probably know, you basically single-handedly got me into this band.

And I thank you for it! They are really awesome and are making their way, up the ranks of my lastfm charts.

Love the new single, love the album, love the mini album!

  15. Well, I posted this on the other TW, but no responses... Still looking!

I'm looking for a vocalist that sounds like Icchi from Canzel (since he's retiring, I need to fill that soon-to-be void).

    Here's some example songs:

    Allegro

    Umbrella

    Heart (this one's a ballad)

I don't care if it's VK or even Japanese, just recommend me a band with a vocalist that you think sounds like Icchi!

    Thanks in advance.
