  1. As a teen I always thought that Teru (Aikaryu) was sexy af. And Kaya... though I didn't really love them, I just thought they were cute and their shredding/singing kinda turned me on. I had a disappointing youth obv. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I guess I'm pretty much into anything before their 2011 album. For some reason it did not resonate with me the way マイナスの世代による瞬間のドキュメント or the releases before that did. It certainly felt more polished than anything else they put out but that was sort of the problem for me. I like blgtz rough and shrieky :]

2004 - Music From the Motion Picture Soundtrack 2005 - マイナスの世代による瞬間のドキュメント 2008 - Blgtz 2011 - 同時に消える一日 Singles 2003 - アタシはキレイな水滴のfilm ウフフ 2005 - コントロール 2011 - ソネット A couple of years ago I was browsing YouTube for blgtz videos and a comment under one of them described the vocalist as a 'lost soul'. Every time I listen to them, I think of that description and how perfectly it fits Tamura's vocal style. Especially on the first couple of releases, he usually dances among the tranquil, dreamy, playful and at times chaotic instrumentation like a ghost light just to fade away moments later and reappear in an outburst of shrill, sometimes desperate, sometimes angry energy. It is this particular emotive dynamic, coupled with Tamura’s unique voice which – in my eyes – makes blgtz stand out and shine. What are your opinions on them? Are there any listeners among us?
  5. In my teens I was very much one of those insufferable emo kids listening to all of those bands (and more) emmny rightfully excluded from this thread. Luckily I also began exploring the not at all so terrible roots of early-mid 00s emocore/post-hardcore and the 'true' sound of the genres: Fugazi, Hüsker Dü, The Get Up Kids, Sunny Day Real Estate, Saetia, The Saddest Landscape, Loma Prieta, envy, Tristan Tzara etc. To some of them I still enjoy listening today (I'll list some favourites below), although there's something about the genre of (real) screamo/emocore which makes me uncomfortable. I think it's the fact that I used this style of aggressively emotional music to fill the void in myself / battle my apathy which eventually gave it a weird overtone. Anyway, here's some of my favs.

HIM was the love of my youth. I absolutely adored them, not because of their at times painfully cheesy lyrics or mostly bland instrumentation but because of a certain vibe I got from them, esp. the vocalist of course. I've always felt connected to him, to his outlook on love and life, his humor and his charm, so much so that I kinda felt I knew that he knew that HIM was very teenagy and corny but that he accepted that fact in an almost sarcastic way just as I did. And while I've always felt that their formula worked out fine up until the release of Love Metal, it certainly began to wither away with Dark Light, shortly resurrecting in a more mature and honest way on Venus Doom but definitively dying with Screamworks. Since Venus Doom I've hoped that they would come up with something authentic, something they really wanted to do as a band but with each album they (or should I say Valo) succumbed to the phantom call of a long lost mainstream success. More experimentation and a greater sense of artistic freedom would have done them good but they steadily refused to embrace their potential new role in music after RR and kept riding that dead horse. Their inability to adopt a new, more creative and free formula has repeatedly disappointed me and more or less ruined the magic I felt when listening to them in my youth. When putting them on now, I feel like looking back at a relationship which was beautiful and full of affection and passion the first couple of years until we slowly became more and more estranged from each other. Anyway... I'm still going to their Prague concert this December which I think is the proper scenery for a last farewell to my teenage idols.
  7. I second that, except that I was 14 when 'Meteora' released. I'd listened to rock/numetal etc. before but Linkin Park certainly sparked an interest in the rougher side of music. They played a major role in my musical development, through them I got into KoRn at the time, Slipknot and ultimately death metal and its most extreme subgenres. So while I've long stopped listening to their music I hold them in fond memory as one of the first sonic peeks at what it feels like to be 'different' and to be proud of it (which seems funny to me now, but hey, those were different times).

just finished the pre-sequel and hopped right back into the second one, both great fun in coop! specifically the criminal past dlc - wasn't bad but not really engaging enough.

It's funny that with this live clip you have chosen an example of Kyo singing perfectly fine - of course the studio version has several dubbing vocals but you did get this, right? There are other examples from the BUDOKAN LIVE Blu-Ray, however, which would have illustrated your (overexaggerated) point that he sometimes doesn't hit the right notes. But I think that in a live performance you can forgive these few instances, especially considering the technical ability and variablity of Kyo's vocal performance. Other than that you have basically made it clear to everybody that you are rather pretentious and obviously struggle to derive a serious and productive comment from your strong opinions (which are a 100% the product of your subjective perception and not a fact or the truth at all).

you should watch more sukekiyo videos then. there's plenty of those "best five seconds".

Love toe, obv., Heaven in Her Arms, Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan... that's some cool stuff I actually listen to myself from time to time! 1. Hyakkei – ぼくのワルツ 2. wooderd chiarie – 過去のない町 3. Coleman Hawkins – Make Believe 4. J.A.M – HE KNOWS Feat. 日野皓正 5. 太平洋ベルト – 夢うつつパラダイス 6. 1905 – Control 7. KYOKUTOU GIRL FRIEND – 依存 8. GPKISM – Barathrum (Bak XIII Remix) 9. Crystal Castles – Affection 10. As Blood Runs Black - Intro (haha) I kinda enjoy most of them but Control by 1905 is prob. my fav from the list... the band is downright awesome! If you don't know them, educate yourself!

I see the point you're making and of course I respect your opinion. However, what I don't have respect for is someone demanding not to be judged after having passed judgment on others (in an uncalled-for way at that). You simply cannot say that music generally trivializes sex or that it corrupts the quality of intimacy with another person. Equally, you cannot condemn people for listening to Rammstein's "Rein Raus" or brutal death or fuckin Mongolian throat singing while at it. Why? Because even that does not preclude that they have a relationship based on mutual respect and trust. Sex is not only about this grand spiritual experience of two souls intertwining bla bla... it is also about having fun, experimenting, with everyone involved enjoying it and not feeling subjugated or objectified but loved and appreciated. In fact, those things usually go together in a relationship, anyway. Please don't misunderstand: this is not me criticizing Shmilly's view on this topic in general, but him saying the stuff he said in the first quote.

    1. 藍華柳 2. Missalina Rei 3. La Fẽerie 4. Aioria 5. 蜂-biene- Also some of SHINA's older bands like NOi'X, NOISY CROWDS or モル・ノヲド. I know he's still kind of active (?) but 弾丸少女 really blows compared to the other ones. >:

Let's extend the scope then and talk about sexual connotations with music in general. I remember how some 8 or 9 years ago, transient by Schwarz Stein would sometimes be my substitute for porn. In my head, GPKISM and newhalf-AVs are also connected in a sexy & twisted way xD As for sex, I really like Crystal Castles, especially II and III. There's just something about their sound, Alice's voice, I dunno... <3
