Tokyo Jihen are one of my faves. I also love Morning Musume and all of the Hello Project related groups.

Whaaaat? That comparison is a pretty big stretch. The only real correlation is that they both have a lot of riffs that pedal off of a root note, which has been pretty standard in metal since Judas Priest(probably even earlier, they're the just the earliest example that I can think of that abuses that kind of riff as much as modern metal bands). Even then, metalcore probably has much better examples to compare to At the Gates and Carcass. As for the overall sound, At the Gates and Carcass tend to stick to a harmonic minor scale whereas Killswitch tends to stick to a major scale. It makes a big difference.

I have a metal Christmas song that In Flames made on some demo

It's a term coined by Manowar to refer to hair metal bands back in the days. It's since been repurposed to refer to numetal bands, sometimes hardcore bands, and presupposes that something is automatically better by being "metal". Spend one night at my job, and 99% of the metal bands that populate the place will prove that wrong. Also, someone needs to make a Manowar artist page.

I was thinking of making a thread for them. Also, they are most certainly NOT death metal.

I think they're the only halfway decent band that Dir en Grey has played with in the states, although that's the one show I didn't see.

I almost forgot Stryper

Mors Principium Est Location: Pori, Finland Similar Japanese Artists: Blood Stain Child One of the better melodic death metal bands to emerge in recent years, and they're overlooked quite often. Sinners Defeat Forgotten

Ahhh, they used to be my favorite bands. My band actually got a supporting spot on the NY date in one of their first US tours(w/ Dimmu Borgir and Hypocrisy). I missed them because we had to set up in the other room during their set =/

All Shall Perish Location: Oakland, CA In my opinion, they're the definitive band in the direction that American metal has taken in recent years. Eradication

Maybe he enjoys having a different girl for each day of the week?

Between the Buried and Me - Ants of the Sky Seriously one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

A whole lotta Tokyo Jihen

Holy shit, I am absolutely in love with the new single.

Right, I'm trying to be cool because I disagree with the idea of "judging" something having an inherently negative connotation.

judging noun the cognitive process of reaching a decision or drawing conclusions If you didn't judge bands, you'd pretty much have to remain completely ambivalent towards them.

I love both Dir en Grey and Sadie. I wouldn't say that Sadie is the better band, however, Sadie is definitely better at the sound that Dir en Grey is going for now. I'd say that Marrow of a Bone is pretty atrocious save for a few tracks.

They're great, and one of the few bands that people who generally dislike jrock seem to enjoy.

I think it came out recently

Japanese melodic death metal band. Pretty good stuff, and they have a badass Luna Sea cover.
