My friends the Jet Set Gypsies (based in Colorado, United States) describe themselves as an "avant garde break-beat visual neo-classical darkwave gothic industrial film noir gypsy circus hardcore experimental project." They take inspiration from opera, metal, Japanese visual bands, etc. but they have their own unique story to tell with theatrical and poetic style. V and Richter are the powerful vocals while Dai plays lead guitar. They're also supported by Idea on rhythm guitar and Yoshi on drums.

They recently put out their first music video for their new song Tourniquet:

    The story in the video:

Jet Set Gypsies portray tragic opposition of the human spirit in 'Tourniquet', Face to face, night and day, left and right, Prince V and Richter Feist battle using their powerful voices as weapons against each other. Duets escalate in intensity as Dai's guitar wails this tale.

"Well they say that this man can't be moved, He's got a heart like an anvil that your gavel bangs on just to prove, that his chances look grim. Well, they say that this girl can't be killed, She's got a heart like Excalibur with a damn near unshakable will. She did it all for her prince."

If you like what you hear, feel free to head on over to these links:

Samples of their most recent album "GodScience" are on Sound Cloud and it can be purchased on their official site.

  2. I'm pretty sure they're still with Victor (that's what the new single is on at least) but I think they're back to managing themselves because I read that their contract with Y-YARD ran out. So that's probably what all of the GCR stuff is about.

It's hard to keep track of all their labels and management since they've been jumping around so much. :/

  3. From what I gather Innocent lovers was one part of elementa alchemica, but it was also released as live limited demo release before actual single or something. so not really all that relevant release anymore.

Yeah, as far as I know it was the "Water Movement."

I'm kind of bummed this one is live-only but it sounds like it's somewhat of a demo (like Innocent Lovers) so I assume it will be part of another release.

  4. still nothing on cooljapan, anyone ordered ever from japan-discoveries? I want that DVD - but first is ramrod's VHS collection ....

@sai: yeah, maybe your question got onto the DVD XD I had to laugh already, after only a few words (already knew what you were gonna ask, when it came to last years tour and netherlands)

Japan Discoveries is legit, I've ordered picks from them several times.

I'm still going to wait to see if they put it up on cooljapan. They tend to be slow about putting stuff up and I don't want to spend 2000 yen more if I don't have to.

  5. D will have a new DVD called "Dying message~2012 Overseas Odyssey Tour Documentary & Off-Shot DVD~" to be released on 2012.10.18. It will be 66 minutes in length and a random postcard out of 5 kinds will be included.

It's only available on the Rosen Kranz shop. However, sites like Japan Discoveries and CDJapan are offering shopping services (with extra fees).

Edit: The DVD's also available now to members of D's Ultimate lover Global fan club.

  6. btw in that text the word that they use is 活動休止 which translates as activity pause, i don't see any other word?

because i see people freaking out if it's disbandment or hiatus. but for me it's the same thing really

活動休止 pretty much means stopping activities and disbanding. I have seen this phrase used many times when bands were breaking up. I know people would like to believe that they are simply on hiatus for a while but I don't think that's the case. ):
