The Japanese says that it’s the last time for some of those songs. The English makes it sound like the band is breaking up. Edit: I didn’t see there was a page 11 to this thread so it seems others have already clarified.
-
It has a different feel because of the loss of the vocal melody, same with the new Kigan.
-
You mean the guitar feedback (I think that's what it is)? I love that song but I usually have to turn the volume down a little bit right at the beginning of that song because it hurts my ears lol. Same with that part in Utafumi.
-
Sure but they did DSS at Nippon Budokan and then Mode of DSS like 2 years later. I know they played some Missa and Six Ugly songs but I don’t think they played all of them.
-
I wonder if/when they'll do a Mode of Arche tour/DVD and whether it will be before or after TIW Live at Budokan. Even though it's highly unlikely I'd really like to see a Mode of Missa (hopefully including the other pre-Gauze stuff) a Mode of Six Ugly (more likely but still not very likely) and a Mode of The Unraveling (again not that likely since like the other two it's also an EP and this one is comprised almost entirely of remakes but it would still be cool). I feel like they'll do an Arche one eventually but they seem to be focused on TIW for now which makes sense.

They’ve definitely been to the US since then lol.

There’s no way 90% of these anonymous troll accounts of rape and stuff are true, nobody would “lol” about it even in Japan and I’ve lived in Japan. And I’m surprised people are so thirsty for drama that they will believe this dumb internet gossip. Plus Kyo has specifically said that he is not into BDSM so I really doubt he’s raping underage girls with liquor bottles. Plus he’s like 5’3” so he’s definitely not picking fights with random people unless he’s trying to get himself killed. This is the creepy cringey tumblr-y edgelord side of VK fandom that I can’t stand.

Gene Wong always comes off as super cringey to me.

2000 yen for one song lol

Somehow Kyo is my favorite thing about DEG and my least favorite thing about sukekiyo. He sounds fine when he’s singing normally but I really really really fucking hate the obnoxious fake screaming breathing/coughing/wheezing/whispering mouth sounds that he does that ruin half the music. I love his clean vocals and his actual harsh vocals but good god he makes some annoying noises in this band. It would be cool if it was once in a while but he uses that weird old man whisper yelling thing on damn near every song on Adoratio. I’ve never had a problem with his harsh vocals in DEG, in fact I love them. I just can’t stand the way he does them in this band. However I do have some hope for the future since Gerbera and that demo song from January both had traditional harsh vocals that didn’t sound like nails on a chalkboard.

I think Shinya would rather die.

I think he looks the best he has in years. The bright dyed hair may be strange on a 40 something year old but he’s in a VK band and it looks fine on him imo. Mostly I’m glad he shaved that awful chin beard thing he had for so long.
-
He had shorter hair in the Arche promo pics.

Thanks. Garden is clearly different between the two versions though so I’m wondering which was released first. The strange thing is that the video version sounds like a demo version to me productions wise and the vocals are a bit rougher sounding as well despite releasing after the Missa version.

Did 「楓」~if trans…~ ever have a CD release (or any audio format for that matter)? I’d like to add it to my digital collection but it seems there are no legit mp3s of it. I might just have to rip the YouTube videos or something. Edit: I found a mediafire link with some shitty 128kbps mp3s; that’s probably the best I’m gonna get if there was really only a VHS release. It would be really cool if they remastered some of their old rarities. Btw, does anyone know which was recorded first between the Missa and「 楓」~if trans…~ versions of Garden and Kiri to Maui/Sangeki no Yoru? I think I prefer the vocal melody during the chorus on the Missa version (probably because it’s the version I heard first so Kyo sounds kind of out of key in the video version). I think the tempo of Garden is slightly faster in the Missa version too. Despite releasing first in 1997 (versus 1998 for the video versions) I feel like the Missa versions were probably recorded more recently because they sound more polished. Also because of the whole story of how Kyo was apparently forced to rewrite the lyrics to Sangeki no Yoru which resulted in Kiri to Mayu.

Die’s whole thing is pretty cringey the last few years I agree 😕

It’s supposed to be a cicada? Lol it just sounds like a buzzer or an old kitchen timer or something. Cicada would at least connect to an insect theme with the song being named after fireflies. If that’s what it’s supposed to be you think they’d upgrade the sound effect for live performances.

I see, I guess I just had the regular NA bonus tracks. This Decayed Crow remix by Kyo is a lot better than the Narasaki one. I love DEG at their most aggressive and abrasive (like the original Decayed Crow) but that Narasaki remix is barely even music. 1. I figured that it referred to that, but it seems strange that, at least from what I’ve seen, Japanese fans almost always write the title of that song as “第三帝國” even though they use the official name (or at least an abbreviation or katakana writing like “サステイン/Sasutein” for Sustain the untruth for example) for every other English-titled song. It leads me to believe that “第三帝國” must have been used officially in some capacity in Japan to become so ubiquitous among fans. It’s not a big deal but I just have a nerdy interest in finding the answer haha. 2. Thanks. 3. Thank you, I sent her a message. 4. It’s so strange how he disappeared, I always appreciated how he uploaded all the rare singles and stuff that were really hard to come by in good quality outside of paying ridiculous amounts of money on eBay or something. Even if he doesn’t want to do rips anymore I wish he’d check in once in a while because the way he disappeared makes me sad. I think he started to get overwhelmed and felt like he owed the community something when most people were just grateful for his contributions and like talking to him.

Oh so that’s where they are from lol. I guess I don’t have the second disc of DSS, I’ve just seen the demo versions of Akatsuki and Diabolos on YouTube. Now that I look into it I’m more confused. I thought the deluxe version of DSS just had the Rasetsukoku remake and the symphonic version of Amon. But I checked Seelantau’s wiki and it says the second disc has 10 tracks including those two demos but also ones like acoustic version of Ruten no Tou and the radio static remix of Decayed Crow that I could have sworn weren’t released until years later, I think on the DSS Budokan bonus CD. So which CD were the demos from?

The Japanese explanation is different in that post for some reason. It says that the “sequence” track (backing track) wouldn’t play. Idk why the English translation makes it sound like they physically lost the tracks lol.

I have a few random questions. 1. I’m guessing Seelantau may know the answer to this although I couldn’t find anything about it on his wiki, but why does the Japanese fandom call THE IIID EMPIRE “第三帝國” (which means the Third Reich or Nazi Germany in Japanese) instead of the normal name? I almost never see Japanese fans use the name THE IIID EMPIRE even though they always use English (or at least katakana) to refer to every other English-titled DEG song. Was it written this way on the Japanese release of Vulgar or something? 2. Where did all the demo versions of DSS songs come from? IIRC that album leaked but did it leak in a demo form instead of the finished version? 3. I’m planning on going to the 4/4/19 concert in Fukuoka, Japan but it won’t let me buy tickets until next month after the a knot members. How fast do they usually sell out? I think it will probably sell out slower than say Tokyo but I want to be safe. Thanks to whoever can help me out. 4. Oh and what ever happened to that Ninja Panda guy/girl? Lol. Are they okay?

I love Uroko but it always sounds bad live. Kyo sings the wrong melody and there is no rhythm guitar during the solo so it just sounds weird.
-
I would be so pissed if they played Sustain the untruth instead of Ranunculus.

I hid her name because I’m not trying to bully her or anything (this is just one example of an obsessive Japanese fan) but she replies to like every DEG tweet. Her description says “I’ve been in love with Kyo since 2003. I’m the mother of two girls age 9 and 6. Kyo is the best. I’m always thinking of Kyo’s happiness...” blah blah blah... yeah you get the picture. Like 15 posts a day like this sometimes. I do feel bad for people who can’t separate reality and fantasy like this but hopefully she cares about her kids as much as she cares about Kyo. And there are tons of people like this in the Japanese fandom.

Most definitely. They just have better manners in front of the group at concerts (less weaboo hijinks basically) but the stuff they write about the band on Twitter and whatnot is just as ridiculous. Many of them saying stuff like following DEG is their life’s purpose and writing delusional live reports as if the band members are their irl friends.
