ficsci 50 Posted January 3, 2011 Talk about it I feel like I've been running into a significant amount of shoegaze-influenced stuff (even in VK), even if they're not always straightforwardly/consistently "shoegaze" (that I'm even reluctant to mention them) Ones I know that are legit enough to be labeled with it Supercar Coaltar of the Deepers Plastic Tree Fatima obscure AURORA Atmos*Note Toddle DISH any recommendations? CAT5 9075 Posted January 3, 2011 I'm EXTREMELY picky when it comes to shoegaze. There's VERY little that I actually enjoy, but since I'm an ongaku otaku, I do happen to know of a few bands. I guess you can check out the following bands and see how you like them: Broken Little Sister Nanocycle Luminous Orange Monocism Plastic Girl In Closet Lemon's Chair My Dead Girlfriend Cruyff in the Bedroom Hartfield
Number Girl 48 Posted January 4, 2011 I don't know if they actually count, but I've heard people refer to Bluebeard, As Meias, and Onsa as shoegaze or shoegaze influenced. The band Sherbets is also sorta dream poppy. xD
tosinn 3 Posted January 4, 2011 Interesting topic. I was actually going to make one a few months ago. Anyways, I haven't really listened to much Japanese shoegaze, but some interesting bands I stumbled upon were: Cruyff in the bedroom sleepy.ab Coaltar of the Deepers Luminous Orange I especially enjoyed the first two. Really great bands. I'm still looking for more Japanese shoegaze/dream-pop bands to listen to.

roninbuddha 0 Posted March 6, 2011 technically not a japanese act, but Asobi Seksu has a shoegazey vibe in some albums.
Guest Posted March 6, 2011 That's because they ARE a Shoegaze/Dreampop band, at least Citrus which is the only album I've heard from them. But that is a pure Shoegaze/Dreampop album. I should check out more from them. Amazing stuff!
tosinn 3 Posted March 6, 2011 Their newest album Fluorescence is almost entirely shoegaze as well, and their self-titled has a couple of dream pop/shoegaze tracks.
Guest Posted March 6, 2011 I just saw Wiki mentioned them as a Noise pop band as well. Do they have any albums that are entierly Noise Pop? Or albums where the main genre is Noise Pop?
tosinn 3 Posted March 6, 2011 Hmm, I wouldn't refer to them as a noise pop band, though Citrus has a couple of tracks that can be classified as noise pop, but I'm not really sure. I think Hush has a few others as well.
Guest Posted March 6, 2011 I've only heard Citrus and I wouldn't call it anything other than Shoegaze/Dream Pop.
tosinn 3 Posted March 6, 2011 Well, I wouldn't call Fluorescence or their self-titled noise pop at all, so that only leaves Hush.
