I had remember reading that when Uli got injured he decided to retire from singing because he didn't want to be in a band without him.

He's still around, though very rarely active. Aikaryu had a one-day revival back in 2010 and another in 2011(not sure about this one, but I think so). I think he's been in a session or two since then as well.
