I think it's a bad idea to do something if you don't understand the situation well. If the man hit her or anything, then it would be the reason to do something, but it seemed they were arguing? You never know what happened between them, maybe she did something, made him angry and felt guilty, so it looked like that? If you don't have a proof, don't judge someone... and even if it was abuse, you could make him even more angry like that. What if he hurt the girl more when no one else was looking?

Also, it's nice and good for your ego to play a hero, but I'm pretty sure other people aren't worth this, because they only think about themselves. Unless it's something really bad, or they're close to you, it's pointless to care about them, because they wouldn't care about you.

To conclude anything I would just say you have more of an American culture upbringing rather than say,

a Japan or HK culture.

Americans or westerners like to exert themselves and intervene, and are loud

The way he was talking to her and treating her was clearly abusive when we got off the metro, he was starting to yell right in her face and trying to control her, and her head was down, scared. I wont stand for that.

As for the Chinese part, I wasnt trying to be racist, I love China and its history and used to train in an all Chinese dojo. My sifu told me all sbout the history of martial arts and China, and how brave the people were and I love it. Because of that it makes me angry not only at the person as an individual, but of not representing the greatness he is from. Your lineage survived famine, corruption, and the killing of anyone who.defended your village or practiced martial arts period, and you are going to abuse a small beautiful woman and then apologize and run away from me?

Every country has its history of greatness and courage, and people shouldnt forget that.

Maybe I am unrealistic, but I hate that, and feel as if I did the right thing.

And yeah I hope that never happens again to that woman and wish it would never to happen to any other vulnerable people.

You seem to have this high respect for mainland chinese people where in fact it should be the opposite.

Most chinese people have no manners, and are EXTREMELY, extremely rude (I'm talking about Chinese born and raised in China).

So many Japanese think that chinese foreigners in Japan are god awful rude too.

Most chinese, not all. But this is only based on much personal experience.

You shouldn't have pushed the guy, just asked him to stop doing it. What if the guy knocked you out after pushing him?

^their are some unique bands. no one does screams like a thousand years of plagues. not that i heard at least. he sounds like a alien 

I can actually do high screams like that band lol.

if you're looking for a better band, try The Devil Wears Prada (old songs), the screams are better, music more creative

but in the end it doesn't really appeal to me (at least not anymore). I also hate it when japanese bands try to copy

post hardcore bands like this, it pisses me off so much.

I listened to my friend's collection (about 7 years ago as my last memory, I was curious about his music) so I don't have all the bands in my memory but I definitely remember Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold only because they both have their band name start with the letter A and A7X is a slick abbreviation. They are listed as metalcore according to wiki so I guess that is what they and the other bands are...I guess....I am terrible with genres especially in rock so I cannot tell what is post-hardcore to hardcore. I only listened when he is around with his massive collection and we had Chemistry homework to do lol.

 

Yes, the bolded part is what I noticed a lot which is why I say bands that rely heavily on unclean vocals are just not dynamic enough for me to keep my interest in them. 

 

I used to listen to A7X around the time when they were post-hardcore, now they're just metal lol. I don't listen to A7X anymore,

but it's not because they shifted genre. I used to listen to Atreyu long ago too, I simply fell out of the metal scene I think...

You should listen to the band Thousand Years of Plagues that blackdoll suggested, it's a generic band that may have a good vocalist, but not using what he has, the

music is monotonous, I can sleep to it lol, and sounds like every other band in the scene right now.

I just listened to some songs and the unclean vocal style's highs used to be like Bring me the Horizon's early songs.

Maybe because I have dabbled in NA rock with harsh vocals already during my teens but I find them now quite boring and non-dynamic for me to keep listening to bands that rely on them a lot or strictly. It's quite the turn off when a "vocalist" can't actually sing and just do harsh vocals most of the time. I now prefer a balance of strong singing and harsh ever since I was captivated by Mejibray and Signal when I first got into them. I am in the hunt for more now but there is so much more interesting and dynamic artists out there that is hard to really justify listening to bands with only growls, screams, etc for vocals no matter the instrumentals

you talking about the post-hardcore scene? i actually come from the bordering post-hardcore/deathcore and deathmetal scene

and the reason why I stopped to listening mostly to all of it because all the unclean vocals sound...the same!

The songs sound the same! If you listen to 3 post hardcore albums in a row it would have felt like an 80 minute song basically.

But there are still bands that still stand out to me. I LOVE unclean vocals, just not the way NA post hardcore/deathcore bands do it.

Bring me the horizon's vocalist (isn't NA, and their style is not really post-hardcore anymore) used to have really unique uncleans.

Another unique vocal usage is Mejibray, which is why i love mejibray so much, Tsuzuku has amazing screams..very unique/dynamic style

I personally don't really like most MEJIBRAY fans I've encountered on tumblr (and last.fm), mainly because they tend to be more focused on Tsuzuku's looks than the band's music (I mean, be honest: whenever a new MEJIBRAY thread surfaces about a new release there is at least 2 pages of posts about the new look), but the reason I do not like the band is not because they're "a band designed for fangirls" as someone once called it, but that I just genuinely don't enjoy the music. If I had, none of this would've probably mattered to me. You do not need to interact with a band's fanbase to enjoy them, like I said before.

 

So what are your opinions?

Does this mean I am weird? I thought they looked and sounded strange when I first listened to them. But their style grew on me so much,

and now they are one of my favorite bands (simply because of their amazing sound, it's catchy, harsh, unique). and Now I like their looks too!
