  1. I would comment on your list if I knew one song on it XD. I know Number Girl's list though, and I love it. I'm giving another go:

Children of Bodom - Hate Me!

Gojira - The Way of All Flesh

Spastic Ink - See, and It's Sharp!

    X-Japan - Kurenai

    Machine Head - Halo

Hatsune Miku & Megurine Luka - For a Dead Girl

Coheed and Cambria - A Favor House Atlantic

    Septic Flesh - Communion

Septic Flesh - Virtues of the Beast

    Epica - White Waters

It's X-Japan's first smash hit, 'nuff said. Despite that I really have to give honourable mentions to those two Septic Flesh songs because 'Communion' is 3:25 of pure symphonic destruction and 'Virtues of the Beast' shows that restraint and control is sometimes far more intresting than going all out with Blast Beats and Choirs 24/7. Brilliant songs that get my full recommdation :).

  2. The only ones I like out of the 10 are Malice and My Bloody Valentine, sorry mate. Now my turn ^_^

    Metallica - No Remorse

Coheed and Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3

    Kamelot - Serenade

    Opeth -  Hex Omega

Maximum the Hormone - Anaru Whiskey Ponce [Re-Recorded]

Disillusion - A Day by the Lake

    Rotting Christ - Helios Hyperion

    Symphony X - The Turning

    Cynic - How Could I

    Cynic - Evolutionary Sleeper

I have to pick How Could I, the drumming and the ending solo is so stunning that I had to. Awesome song and album that don't get enough attention on my Ipod.

  3. that's one of my faves in that album

oh I don't doubt his skills, I just don't think it would match his music, Syu always has this aggressive feel to his music while I find Hizaki has a certain "romantic" edge

It's my fav along with 'Rhapsody of the Darkness' and 'Created Beauty'.

For me Hizaki's typical style of guitar won't work for this band. It will sound like a Versailles/Hizaki Grace Project rip off (in my eyes anyway) so I wan't Hizaki to go all out :3

  4. It was my fave album, I loved all the songs in that album except vampire, to me it was the self-titled one that felt lackluster and didn't really represented them at their best.

But yes more Teru and Masashi(really love thanatos) should do like 2-3 songs each and the rest can give it up to Hizaki :)

I doubt Hizaki could do Syu type of metal, I just don't see him doing it

    Taste differ I guess :)

And as for Masashi, I wanna see more songs like 'Edge of the World', that was fucking amazing. Also I think Hizaki has the skill and talent to pull of Syu's Angel of Salvation tier guitar work, but as you said it probably won't happen unless he pulls out material which matches 'Faith and Decision'.

  5. Well...they've released all their other albums in special editions since, always including EPs as bonus tracks...and "I" is a sold out limited run...and Frederick Thordendal is making music with Special Defects again...and the album sounds like plastic because of that drum machine and would not hold out to the super-clean mixing of recent efforts (Koloss and Pitch Black).

Then there's the fact Meshuggah is big enough to release anything they want.

I think it's far from pointless xD

But in another to-be-fair moment, I don't mind Vildhjarta. At least their singer(s) sound like their balls have dropped.

"Well...they've released all their other albums in special editions since, always including EPs as bonus tracks": Which In my opinion is pointless since they had no reason at all to re-releace those albums (unless they were originally limited in print which in that case I wouldn't mind) except for Nothing which they re-releaced due to fact that the production on the original nothing was rushed and they wanted the crushing sound of their 8-string on Nothing so they re-releaced it to get the results which the band originally intended.

"and "I" is a sold out limited run": Print more, simple.

".and Frederick Thordendal is making music with Special Defects again": Fucking W00T!

"and the album sounds like plastic because of that drum machine and would not hold out to the super-clean mixing of recent efforts": The drum machine's fine though. I never saw a problem with it and if anything, it went with the overall robotic tone of the album.

"Then there's the fact Meshuggah is big enough to release anything they want": True, but all because they can doesn't mean they should.

  6. Catch 33 is their best album imo. I'm waiting for them to re-release it with I as a bonus track.

Apparently Meshuggah are in my top artists charts on last.fm, and I've seen them live a couple of times so I guess I'm a fan. They're still better than all the kids who claim to see them as an influence.

They have, still and always will be better then the people that they influence. Meshuggah is the God in a sea of imitators.

Also a re-releace of Catch 33 would be pointless to be fair :/.

  7. Just wanted to throw my two cents in, but I gotta say I almost 100% agree with Sai on the details of how Kamijo's voice evolved, but I found that Holy Grail was his worst period and I don't know what that was attributed to. But I think for the last era of the band his voice was fine. I mean yeah maybe average, but average was definitely accepted over Holy Grail which just had a LOT of bland moments where Kamijo didn't sound as totally GLORIOUS as it did on the first two albums and EP. Regardless, his work on the self-titled last album was flawless. He sounded great, just in time for him to start up his solo project with the voice he used on either Jubilee or Versailles.

Like someone else mentioned, I really don't think "Versailles" is dead, I think they're just doing other projects and in the future they may reunite. Who knows? I don't. But for now let's enjoy Kamijo's solo project and Jupiter.

I was taken aback by this news at first because it was so soon after Versailles initial disbandment, but I think this really did test my love for the musicians themselves apart from the name of "Versailles" if you know what I mean. Like of course I loved V's theme and atmosphere, but it wouldn't have been what it was if it didn't have the amazing individual musicians.

That being said, a what-is-essentially-Versailles without Kamijo is going to be different and interesting, but I am totally ready to hear a full song and hear how the voice sounds. Hopefully he's at least good because I already KNOW I'm going to love the instrumentalists.

Ya I think we can all agree that Holy Grail was their worst album and Kamijo's low point when it comes to his vocals (even though i'm a sucker that brought the Deluxe Box Limited Edtion of Holy Grail ^_^). Also I definately agree that Kamijo proformed brillently on the self titled (especally on Created Beauty) and was a definate comeback for Versailles after Holy Grail, great album :D. For me a Versailles without Kamijo is losing the main reason why I adore Versailles (especally in Noble) so unless Hizaki can pull of Galneryus' 'Angel of Salvation' tier guitar work/songwriting and/or Masashi is on top form in a large part of the songwriting, i'll can see myself very easily writing off Jupiter when I listen to their single :(.

  8. Well, I just listen to all my music with the scrobbler and it shows up then what I have listened to. xD (never tried that 'going to a page and checking in if I listen to it' method)

But yeah, it's not very useful if you listen to most of the music away from the PC.

I always listen outside PC so ya :/

Hmmm..... you name reminds me of Prism.

He is one of the lad that I know a huge fan of Opeth in MH.

But he isn't around for a long time now.

    Welcome.

Hi There! I'm Also New Here too

    Welcome To MH

Hope You Enjoy Your Time Here

    Thanks :).

  9. Do you, by any chance, have a last.fm account? Mine's here if you feel like connectin' :)

Yep, it's OpethOfEpica (haven't used it in 2 years).. Is there an easier way to update your music instead of going to every music page and stating that you listen to them? Ipod link maybe?

  10. Good day Monochrone, i'm Opeth from the UK so English is my first language.

I'm here to join a community which specialises in Japanese music but are open to talk about other music and for people (hopefully :3) to show me Japanese music/Visual Kei which isn't complete shit (and from what I can tell a little bit of lurking, this Website is what i'm looking for). As for music taste, i'm mainly a metalhead but have intrests in Avant-Garde and Visual-Kei and i'll list my favorite bands below:

X-Japan (Visual-Kei, forever and always will be my favorite band <3), Opeth (Progressive Death Metal), Blotted Science (Technical Death Metal), Versailles (Visual-Kei), Carach Angren (Symphonic Black Metal), Meshuggah (Avant-Garde) and Aspid (Technical Thrash Metal):

Here's a very quick overview of my taste through 5 songs:
