Madeth gray'll is by far my favorite. Actually, except for them I can't really recall any other outstanding band, they all just kinda blend together for me (or I just haven't listened to them enough). Vice†risk and Mëbius were cool too, I guess.

Thei full-length album "THE INITIAL IMPULSE" is now available digitally at a ton of places: https://linkco.re/6qQxYhME Who knows, maybe there are some passable tunes on there... (update: guess not, lol. there's nothing remotely "crazy" or even "punk" about this based on the samples, just sad embarrassing how-do-you-do-fellow-kids rock) edit: haha, @The Piass beat me to it.

If I remember correctly, NICOLAS (ex-Gossip members' new band) or L'eveil en Roseraie did this for example, but I don't have the receipts. Actually back when I was in a band we did this a couple of times too with our most popular song, back when we didn't have enough tracks. It's not a super-common thing but it's not unheard of. Anyway, good to see they came prepared with an album's worth of tracks already. Regardless of the quality of the demo samples, I'm somewhat still curious to hear more.

Props to him for being able to finish this long-ass release campaign, haha.

Curious to read how this went, if anyone who was there wanted to share their observations.

This video snippet of Közi playing an acoustic version of MALICE MIZER's Garnet is just what I needed today. ♥

(rest of info and some background on the whole thing here) Damnnnnn, wish this wasn't only limited to three shows in the US.

Well... it's just a demo. That's what I'm gonna keep telling myself, hoping this project will bring something more solid in the future.

Surely it can't be THAT bad! #selfawarekei

I don't remember liking anything of their A9 material so curious to see/hear what this 'new-old' incarnation will bring.

I'd go mad listening to just one song or one album for the rest of my life, but if we're talking about bands then BUCK-TICK, easily. Lots of variety and also lots of good stuff (and generally just lots of stuff, lol).

I fully agree, @Euronymous, great album! It'll always have a special place in my heart as it was my first Marduk CD. But other than that ofc it has some exceptional songs and I really enjoy the slower pace too. Also, the segue from "Obedience unto Death" to "Bonds of Unholy Matrimony" is just awesome. Never had a problem with Legion meself either, although I've seen people giving him shit. Obviously you could find better or more captivating black metal vocalists out there but he really added flavour to Marduk's music that's for sure.

Killer track, hoping the album's not too far behind! Can't wait to see these guys again live next month.

Wow, that is Computer I believe! Unless in a plot twist it turns out Metronome actually sampled that synthline from this gameshow, lol.

I hope they embrace this and rename themselves to NOCTURNAL BUDLUST.

Found another one from Mr. McFarlane, this time it's Spawn issue #78 (so just after the previous "X whiskey sighting"). Funny thing: as the story of the comics progresses, sometimes we are treated to a page of three news anchor talking heads (like the above) commenting on current events happening in the world of the comic book. The first two characters are always seen with the same TV channel logo, but this third guy is such a don't-give-a-shit loudmouth that he constantly has to keep switching jobs at different TV stations it seems, as he is seen with a different backdrop/logo every time, lol.

Did you ever just go about your life as usual, and suddenly saw a picture of a visual kei musician/band where you least expected to? Or did you notice an intentional (or unintentional) reference to J-rock somewhere totally out-of-place? I find it pretty fascinating whenever I come across something like this out of its usual subcultural bubble, makes me think whether the person who dropped that bit of VK in there did it knowingly or did it just happen by random. Here, I'll show you what I mean: In 2005 a Hungarian publishing house released a collection of short stories from Russian author Yuri Buyda (Юрий Буйда), titled "Porosz menyasszony" (Прусская невеста/Prussian Bride). The cover ended up being a photo of Mana (MALICE MIZER, Moi dix Mois) somehow...? Issue #77 (October, 1998) of Todd McFarlane's famous comic book series Spawn apparently features a reference to X JAPAN on a whiskey bottle. I tried checking online whether this product was actually a thing, but I came up empty. Anyway, looks like ol' Todd might know a thing or two about Yoshiki & co. I totally stole this idea from a metal forum, but I thought it would be fun to do with visual kei too. Mods: if a thread like this already exists, pls delete this one and merge my post into it.
