Rose of Sharyn is the only decent song i've heard from them... rest sound likes At the Gates or Carcass guitar ripoffs with melodic singing in the choruses for more commercial appeal...Whaaaat? That comparison is a pretty big stretch. The only real correlation is that they both have a lot of riffs that pedal off of a root note, which has been pretty standard in metal since Judas Priest(probably even earlier, they're the just the earliest example that I can think of that abuses that kind of riff as much as modern metal bands). Even then, metalcore probably has much better examples to compare to At the Gates and Carcass. As for the overall sound, At the Gates and Carcass tend to stick to a harmonic minor scale whereas Killswitch tends to stick to a major scale. It makes a big difference.

I have a metal Christmas song that In Flames made on some demo

Frank Zappa
Frank Vincent Zappa(December 21, 1940 ? December 4, 1993) was an American composer, musician, and film director. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Zappa established himself as a prolific and highly distinctive composer, electric guitar player and band leader. He worked in almost every musical genre and wrote music for rock bands, jazz ensembles, synthesizers and symphony orchestra, as well as Musique concrète works constructed from pre-recorded, synthesized or sampled sources. In addition to his music recordings, he created feature-length and short films, music videos, and album covers.

It's a term coined by Manowar to refer to hair metal bands back in the days. It's since been repurposed to refer to numetal bands, sometimes hardcore bands, and presupposes that something is automatically better by being "metal". Spend one night at my job, and 99% of the metal bands that populate the place will prove that wrong.
Also, someone needs to make a Manowar artist page.

I was thinking of making a thread for them. Also, they are most certainly NOT death metal.

I think they're the only halfway decent band that Dir en Grey has played with in the states, although that's the one show I didn't see.

I almost forgot Stryper

Mors Principium Est
Location: Pori, Finland
Similar Japanese Artists: Blood Stain Child
In the beginning, back in the year 1999 in Pori, Finland, Mors Principium Est was established by the three founding members Jori, Jarkko and Toni. Percussion instruments were missing, but later in the same year Mikko joined the band to play the drums. Jori was playing lead guitar and vocals, Jarkko guitar and Toni keyboards. The band played for a while with this set, but in the beginning of year 2000 Jori got tired of singing and wanted to concentrate only in guitar. New singer was needed.
Meanwhile Ville had just left his old band and was looking for something new. He contacted the band and after audition he became the new vocalist. First demo was made without bass-player, but after Listenable Records got interested of the band a fulltime bass-player became necessary to find. In the year 2001 Teemu joined the band to play bass-guitar. Two more demos and few gigs were made and finally the hard work got rewarded.
2002 Listenable Records offered contract and the band signed a contract for 3 albums. The debut album "Inhumanity" was recorded & mixed by Ahti Kortelainen in Finland at Tico-Tico Studios, in December 2002 and mastered at Finnvox Studios, in January 2003. Album was released at spring 2003.
Second album "The Unborn" was recorded at Tico-Tico Studios, in November 2004 and mastered at Finnvox Studios, in December 2004. Album was released at spring 2005, except in USA it was released at the end of 2005.
One of the better melodic death metal bands to emerge in recent years, and they're overlooked quite often.

Manowar, Quiet Riot, Judas Priest, Slayer, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Rainbow, Dio

Ahhh, they used to be my favorite bands. My band actually got a supporting spot on the NY date in one of their first US tours(w/ Dimmu Borgir and Hypocrisy). I missed them because we had to set up in the other room during their set =/

All Shall Perish
Location: Oakland, CA
All Shall Perish is a 5-piece deathcore band from Oakland, California formed in 2002. All Shall Perish combines various genres, including death metal, deathgrind, metalcore, and sludge metal. Since 2005, All Shall Perish have delivered two records off of Nuclear Blast. The first album, Hate, Malice, Revenge, was originally released by Japanese record label Amputated Vein Records in 2003. In 2005, it was re-released by Nuclear Blast and since then has received mostly underground acclaim. In 2006, The Price of Existence was released to largely positive critical reaction. The first single, "Eradication", was made into a video and is played on MTV2's Headbanger's Ball.
In my opinion, they're the definitive band in the direction that American metal has taken in recent years.

Tokyo Jihen are one of my faves. I also love Morning Musume and all of the Hello Project related groups.
