welcome welcome! I'm always in for learning about new music and it seems you have quite some knowledge about the "core" genres. Not much of a Hardcore Punk fan, but I like my metalcore and post-hardcore

Being one of the people who's been here for years, and being one who listens to kpop at that, I still think this isn't a good idea. This forum is supposed to be about Japanese music, right? We already have a section where we upload rock music that isn't necessarily Japanese, but it still is Asian. Isn't that good enough? Also, it's been years since this forum was only about all the VK. I get most of my Japanese rock music from this place, and I haven't been really listening to VK in years. There are a lot of blogs and websites out there sharing Kpop music. Now I'm not against listening to kpop, but it would result in a surge of kpop kids who, if you've seen anything at all, are pretty much brain dead (not everyone, but I'm sure you know what I mean) and you'd get threads full of oppa oppa ooppppaaaaaaa. Aren't there already enough websites for this? Call me narrowminded or ignorant or anything you'd want for that opinion, but as someone who's seen enough of the kpop world, I'd like to see Monochrome as some kind of website that still keeps to its original idea. Besides, how could we have split forums for every genre for instance, when so many rock bands are such a mix of thousands at once?

CNB being considered rock makes me laugh. For Korean rock, don't forget about HLIN, Guckkasten, Pia etc etc. Though the later albums for Pia because the earlier ones are more numetal/scream stuff.

Wandering around in a city I've never been before... All by myself. Hardly friends around to go and say hi to, no family around to go and have dinner with. And you know what the funniest part it? It just feels like home. There's no difference.

What has Korn to do with any of this? If he's turned to lead the band, fine, but Satoshi hasn't as far as I'm aware. Shuu is the actual leader, and always takes word. Ryo is the one with the most input on music (and it's him who's crazy about all the electro, and yes, the nu metal sound) Satoshi's vocals have been getting better through the years and while he's really great live, they've just pulled the production way too flat on their stuff before the singles and the latest one. There's no dynamics. No energy. Whether or not that was Giru's intention, or a twist put on it by their label, I don't think we can say a lot on that. Giru has always said they'll make the music they'll want to make, and will keep on going. For any of us to yell at them, saying they have to go back to an older sound, that's just ridiculous. Yes, I have always liked them, and I like them even now. (Go was a disaster though, I admit) But bands evolve or bands change. If anything, look at the bands they've been hanging around for the past year. Do you see any VK inbetween? Coldrain, MFS, OOR, SiM, and the whole lot. Isn't it fairly clear their sound has shifted and their interests too? To stay on topic: REDMAN seems interesting because all the members that are in the band with Satoshi are of a totally different scene as those the band is known to hang around in. I'm really curious for the single.

I'm really wondering why everyone's like "Satoshi made Giru terrible." As if a vocalist really decides by himself what direction a band makes? Don't they all have the option of doing whatever the hell they want to anyway? Seriously.
-
This surprised me, but Satoshi's voice is great so I'm not bothered about some more music. It's interesting though.

I'd guess they're going to have a tribute concert because it's like exactly a year after he passed away. I wouldn't find it odd if they'd get different vocalists from the rock scene to fill in for vocals. It's been made clear lots of them looked up to K and have even done PTP covers in the past year. girugamesh's Satoshi, coldrain's Masato and MFS's Hiroki are just a few I can come up with at the moment.

Ah, they're so good. Can't wait to see them live!

Watching Devil Survivor 2, just because I discovered it's drawn by the guy who did Durarara... And the concept seems alright. The reviews for the series aren't that great though so I don't really know what to expect. Finally watched the Gundam 00 movie as well and for some weird reason my whole being-an-incredibly-big-fan-of-Setsuna feelings came up again.

For alternative rock and the likes, I think I tend to listen to lots of bands like MY FIRST STORY (OOR's little brother band), coldrain, ONE OK ROCK, Crossfaith, AIRSWELL, Pay Money to My Pain, SiM, Man With a Mission (rock band full of wolves, yes), [Champagne], ELLEGARDEN, the HIATUS, SPYAIR, etc. Kobayashi Taro is great too. These are all totally different types of bands though, so there might be some you like, and some you won't.

Still can't get over the fact they're the second band on Intact Records whose first band is MY FIRST STORY. A friend bought the mini for me last week, so I'll be getting it when I meet up with her sometime next week. Hope it's good. Some parts really do sound like he could be related to Masato. It's a bit of a Hiro(MFS)/Taka(OOR) feel I get after listening.

Wonder if he's going to feature any of his kpop/jrock friends.

Bought ONE OK ROCK's Kanjou Effect to further complete my collection, and Kim Sarang's Human Complex which ruined my planning because its release date changed and I might not get it before I leave the country anyway.

Bigger bands will always do smaller livehouse tours (unless they're really really really big) But the tour final is mostly done at one of the bigger venues. Like ONE OK ROCK's latest tours for instance. Most of their shows were in Tier 4 venues while their tour finals have been at Budokan, Yokohama Arena, and such. It's like a "grand closing" of the tours.

Was so busy with work I didn't even have much time to freak over this one but omg I'm glad they're back. Kind of interested to see what they've done to their sound but I'm expecting an evolved MUSIC. Edit: Song sounds great imo.

They were one of the first Korean rockbands I ever discovered and I still have a soft spot for them. Sad they've resorted to releasing stuff in Japan though.

To be honest, CDs in Belgium aren't the cheapest either, though we don't have ridiculous prices as Japan has, we do get close at times. I remember my grandfather buying me an American version of one of LP's albums years back, and he paid like a half there of what it was here. I guess our prices are around $25/30 at times, with only the smaller artists sometimes being any lower (or if you're lucky, there are sales or just cheaper record labels around) but yeah, we have a high tax rate too. Korean albums are so cheap to me. Especially when the pop albums come with huge photobooks and all. An Epik High album cost me $14 or something and it was a book with an additional CD.

Isn't it a "grabbing all styles they've done before and perfect them to a girugamesh style" thing anyway? That's what they've said they would. Anyway, I'm expecting something to the likes of the last two singles, but with more electro sounds in it. As long as it's not as boring as Go was, I'm up for anything right now.

With the two big ones already out, I hope we'll also get to hear something about other platforms from Square. Like a new The World Ends With You (as was rumored) and that Agito thing they've bought licenses for. (And which I silently hope is a HD version of Type -0- for PS3)

I'm not too fond of this whole Microsoft get-up but then again, I've never bothered with Xbox and I don't think I ever will. Never liked it as a console. Waiting for Square and hoping they bring some surprises!

Oh, where's that from? Source I mean. Edit: People claiming it's fake for various reasons including editing mistakes.
