This “pause in activities” is for the best really. I admire their tenacity in the aftermath of whatever led to end of Mejibray. Mejibray was a decent band in the scene and worked hard to keep it going. It was clear that they had no desire to end Mejibray in the way that it happened. I know that 8P-SB made some cringe – it was as 360 from Mejibray as could be. So be it. Judging 8P-SB on its own merits, they had some catchy tunes here and there but not catchy enough to stand out in the genre to make one pay attention and buy the damn thing! 8P-SB needs a good producer to reign in the impulses and direct the creativity that’s all over the place into a more cohesive sound. With a good producer, 8P-SB may have a shot. Did anyone else get vibes from Genki that he was there to support Koichi but that he didn’t have anything better to do just then – not a crime tho!

Hazuki’s performance of ‘Sorrow’ proves that he knows his way around a ballad. Let’s not forget that Hazuki is a very talented vocalist with a good range so he should be able to perform the covers well. If he chose the covers wisely, he may even surpass the original versions! There are many instances of this (your tastes may vary): How Can You Mend A Broken Heart? – Al Green cover of The Bee Gees I Will Always Love You – Whitney Houston cover of Dolly Parton Red Red Wine – UB40 cover of Neil Diamond Now That We Found Love – Third World cover of The O’Jays Respect – Aretha Franklin cover of Otis Redding I Feel For You – Chaka Khan cover of Prince No Me Platiques Más – Luis Miguel cover of Lucho Gatica A Hazy Shade of Winter - The Bangles cover of Simon & Garfunkel Who's Loving You? - Terence Trent D'Arby cover of The Jackson 5 The late Luther Vandross compiled an album of covers and set the bar very high: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Always_%26_Forever:_The_Classics A few years ago Abingdon Boys School performed an excellent cover of Dress by Buck-Tick. I’m looking forward to Hazuki’s presentation!

Yay! Looking forward to that MV. I like the MV for Happy Wedding. That song has grown on me this past week so I'm looking forward to the rest of the mini album. On a semi-related note why a mini album? It's not just this band but I see it often in this genre. Why not a "whole" album? Just curious.

In my opinion, vk artists don’t stay in their lane. They incorporate multiple genres into their music whether it be metal, rock, pop, rap, classical, jazz and mash it all together. Most of time they are skilled enough to make it work. I could be wrong but there seems to be little blowback when they do this which is a good thing. There also tends to be quite a bit of shameless borrowing from older rock groups – embracing the ethos of nothing new under the sun? In addition to the screams and growls, there seems to be an unwritten rule that the vocalist should be able to sing reasonably well and exhibit some range – there is a lot of competition out there!

I read the replies to the original post with interest. Since the coronavirus lockdown I have been searching for new bands and new music. xaa-xaa is a band that I was aware of via Dadaroma but never gave them a listen. So I watched the Horror vid and I thought it was hilarious! Maybe it’s not supposed to be funny but every time burlap head showed up they fell backwards to the floor! And when the fake blood splashed in Kazuki’s hair? Classic! Why was his mouth bloody though? An get props for grabbing a sharp weapon! You Tube’s algorithm then suggested this number I gave it a go since a band is best judged by its live performance. I have to say I’m impressed and when Kazuki hits the notes starting at 4:11 he nailed it! Digging the sequined jackets and the satin gloves! xaa-xaa totally stunting on you hoes! And just like that, xaa-xaa has a new fan!

This is an interesting question! I just started collecting chekis this year and have about 20. I haven't stored them anywhere and so they're arranged around my computer keyboard. The thrill of ownership is still strong!
