I mean, if people feel like the environment is too toxic for them, that’s valid. I’d never trade my time as a Mejibray fan for anything, but tbh I didn’t really know want I was getting myself into with Mejibray since I went to my first live on a whim, LOL. Man the overseas fan base harassed the shit out of me.

Combination of things. They’re not everyone’s cup of tea. Not everyone likes the direction they took. Mejibray fans can be obsessive and grating. I do think some of the hate stems from the same reason people give Nickelback and other bands shit - not to remotely compare popularity, but considering how small the vkei fan base is, if you’re seeing something you’re not into everywhere, it’s going to annoy you more.

    Mejibray, lol.

I’m pretty sure the members were never meant to always be the same - like there’s a certain line-up he falls back on, but the members can change by show and this was more intended as a solo project (sort of) anyway wasn’t it? At least that’s the impression I got from it, I could be wrong.

Not that heartbroken tbh, like it’s dramatic and another hit for the scene yeah, but I frankly felt way more comfortable at Jishuban or pretty much anywhere else.
  6. Brand-X was gated, the website and Twitter are seemingly down, and apparently no one can get in touch with Yada. Updates as they become available I guess?

Idk this and Ghost Hotel are honestly my favorite 8P tracks so far lol at least they’re having fun.

I mean he’s really nice in person. It’s probably just a joke.
  9. frayed

He was going to play Dracula but he forgot LOL, they kept joking that the next reunion would be when the new era after Reiwa happens and whether anyone would want to come and see a bunch of old men on stage

Yeah I’m also a fan of the b-sides LOL I mean you’re right about nothing really binding the songs together conceptually but I kind of love that there’s so much variety too so idk - and I feel like they’d get it there, everything up until now has been fairly high-concept

Lbr Mejibray gets extra hate because a lot of the fans who do love them get extra obnoxious about it. Ngl it’s been really rough for me to find fans that aren’t batshit or twelve. (Saying this as a Mejibray fan. - thankfully I’ve got a decent circle of people to talk to, but it’s very, very small.)

Not the first time someone has left an instore early since they were sick; it happened to me once before at a Mejibray instore. MiA suddenly left during the talk and then they carried on without him. Not a super common occurrence, but it happens. This just happened to be before a big show, so they wanted to assure everyone there wouldn’t be any problems.

Yeah I was just thinking that; Closet Child is gone too, right? Wonder if it’s a sign of it falling out of fashion? (At least as far as trendy youth goes.)

Yeah, it was a very small location. Not ideal for events, but great for a day of shopping of Harajuku.
  15. frayed

Supposedly just the one in Harajuku is closing Forum is taking over the rest. Yeah, Mejibray’s Forum. And the one who’s recently taken on Diaura.

It didn’t sell out, the lottery doesn’t start until April 1st. Only 300 tickets will be sold.

Yeah, of course! It can be really disheartening to have a bad experience with a band that meant a lot to you, so I’m glad if hearing that can help you find enjoyment in them again!

Nah, I think the rest of them are cool. Way back in the day when Dir en grey played those three shows in a row in NY, a lot of people were camped out and the tour bus was basically directly beside the line. More than once, Die would be coming and going and never seemed to have a problem acknowledging the fans/occasionally chatting with them. Then the night before the last show when it was pouring rain on everyone, Kyo went around with their translator giving everyone hot tea.

Tbh I like Dir en grey, but I’m not big on Shinya. He’s always read cold to me, and at first I thought maybe he was just shy or not a huge fan of meet and greets, which is whatever - but then we were both at the same party once, and when I went to say I was a big fan of his band, he literally pretended I wasn’t even there. I mean straight up, I even did that awkward thing where I repeated myself because I wasn’t sure if he hadn’t heard me or not, lol.

I could be speaking out of my ass, but I really don’t know that Justin Bieber or One Direction is really a fitting comparison. I think the jist of what you’re going for is right, but I’d say it’s less because they don’t care about the lyrics at all and more because they can literally just go out to the lives pretty much whenever or go sing at karaoke. Yes, it’s about pretty faces, but a lot of the music really taps into teenage angst, too, and that is very deliberate. Very pretty, unorthodox men that are singing and saying the things that I’m not supposed to say about myself - at least that’s my experience with gya in a nutshell. One size doesn’t fit all, of course, but...

Basically they wanted to release the Heisei PV today and had every intention to, but they weren’t satisfied with the result yet - so rather than give us something they weren’t satisfied with yet, to tide us over, they made the lyric video for us

I can get where people aren’t so into it, but for my part I like that they go places people don’t expect. I dig the variety.
  23. frayed

I feel like the sound quality is probably because of the whole special format they used to record the single with. I can’t imagine that would carry over to YouTube well. That said, I liked the song.

I’m over here ready to hear “Stalker” LOL

To be fair, I think their ‘less is more ‘ policy as a whole is paying off for them.
