Lareine 0 Posted July 5, 2007 It's a shame that Lareine disbanded last year. The members were Kamijo ( vocals ), Mayu ( guitar ), Emiru ( bass ), Machi( first drummer ), and Kazumi ( 2nd drummer ). My favorite CDs are Never Cage, Reine de Fleur 1 and 2, and Winter Romantic.
D.L.S 11 Posted July 9, 2010 It took me a long time to get used to Kamijo's Lareine voice. Actually just last week is when it stopped annoying me.
D.L.S 11 Posted December 21, 2010 I just listened to Dir en Gray for the first time. It is a really good song, but Kamijo sounds different. ?
Guest Posted December 21, 2010 Anyone know what album the song Dir en Gray was on? I remember really loving the song but never knew what album it was on.
Number Girl 48 Posted December 21, 2010 It was on the LALIENE demo tape, I believe and some compilation album.
fitear1590 2414 Posted December 21, 2010 This is indeed where Dir en Grey took their name, right?
Guest Posted December 21, 2010 This is indeed where Dir en Grey took their name, right? Yes. Lareine considered Dir en Gray to mean "greyish silver coin" which is something that Kaoru repeated in a few very early interviews. But then they realized Dir en grey does not mean "greyish silver coin", it doesn't mean anything, so now they just say that it means "several different things composed of different languages". It's essentially a cop-out lol.
Peace Heavy mk II 7200 Posted February 2, 2011 Well he's banned now, but "Dir an Grey" was on Rein de Fleur II, a demo-tape with the same title, and it was also on the UNDER CODE sponsored Lareine cover album.

The demo was "LALIENE" and I'm pretty sure that is is Dir en Gray not Dir an Grey.
Peace Heavy mk II 7200 Posted February 2, 2011 I thought there was more broken French in the title.

Pretsy 1343 Posted June 19, 2011 How come I hated this earlier? (visuals were tacky but uuh uuh nvm) Fierte blaah blaah -the last of romance- is a masterpiece! Also: Never Cage is quite nice as well Kamijo's hard rock solos = meeeeeh. My briefly put opinion about them is here ^^ (p.s. they make better ballads than Bearsighs)

Fierte/ Never Cage are pretty good, but as you said, I skip the Kamijo solo Lareine. Have you tried Blue Romance, though? That's actually where my favorites are. And the Metamorphose single. Metamorphose/ Gerbe are awesome!
D.L.S 11 Posted June 20, 2011 they make better ballads than Bearsighs Versailles needs to stick with fast and sometimes heavy power metal!

GreatNorthernVK 183 Posted March 26, 2018 Surprised that this topic had so little activity. Fierte no Umi to Tomo ni Kieyu used to be my jam back in the day.
Seelentau 884 Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) There are actually two versions of the 2ND DEMO tape: Special cover: https://www.discogs.com/LALIENE-2ND-DEMO/release/11695644 Regular version: https://www.discogs.com/LALIENE-2ND-DEMO/release/2161768 Also, is there any source at all that DEG took their name from that song? Wouldn't surprise me, but I read that the "translation mistake thing" was their own fault, not Lareine's... At the very start of the song, the singer sings "Haiiro no anata ni - dir en gray", so it could be that the "silver coin" thing was made up by DEG... or so? Confusing @.@ And there was also a band called "Dir & Gray" in the early 90s? Edited March 26, 2018 by Seelentau

Seelentau 884 Posted March 27, 2018 Well if Lareine's vocalist really was the source? Dunno, it's the first time I've even heard of it^^
