Avex pictures enforces export ban on Blu-rays, DVD, and CDs

.... I am broken hearted, but I am not surprised. This company have doing shady stuff before, especially regarding their treatment of their artists.

I wonder if it affects iTunes. Or like someone mentioned – closetchild and other similar shops.

everything's still available on spotify so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You are implying that Japanese are going to assess/embrace usual music streaming/playing/purchasing channels (incl. iTunes) to the very extent?

We are talking about the *lone* country of massive, "conservative" physical CD markets here, not some sort of digital downloading and/or streaming paradise like *almost any country in our western civilization*

spotify is objectively better than physical media btw because it doesn't suffer from rotational velocidensity

but yeah, talk about shooting yourself in the fucking foot here, thirsty weebs willing to shell out like €50 eur or more for a 3 episode anime dvd undoubtedly must've at least provided SOME useful extra income

What I wonder, which proxy websites will follow. are they actually allowed to still help out? or do we need private proxies from now on?

anyway, then maybe this was the reason why Acid Black Cherry music as suddenly available at spotify...

Anyway,

What will be next, that if you visit Japan that you aren't allowed to buy a freaking CD of AVEX anymore? that Tower records etc won't let you purchase a CD anymore because you are a freaking GAIJIN? if it comes so far, it would be totally discrimination.

Also I wonder if this is already AGAINST the law, because it's already discrimination.

I guess since it's foreign people who upload illegally that way they stop piracy...

Surely there can't be that many pirating in Japan. I mean you can get jailtime there. It still doesn't make sense. Okay, so now some people who never paid for your products anyway still won't pay for them.... What's the point? It just hurts the few people overseas that actually do buy your shit.

Even if their North American distribution thing works perfectly and I can magically get everything on Avex from there, it's still going to hurt me anyway since I shop from your usual Japanese websites (HMV or whatever). I don't need a middleman and realistically the CDs are going to be much lower in quality (in terms of packaging and everything).

Some of us don't want to use spotify, and some of us want the physical copy of the damn CD

sure, keep crying about not being able to give money to a company who clearly doesn't want it.

@ the subject: it's honestly their loss. domestic sales keep declining and as much as overseas purchases might not have given them much, it's still a shitty thing to do. your move, Sony!

Actually a friend of mine is already wondering if customs will go though his luggage to ensure he's not taking anything Avex from Japan.

It's not like it's a law or anything that forbids you from taking CDs outside of Japan. It's just Avex refusing to sell their products overseas which is stupid.

I guess it's all a conspiracy theory between forwarding services and record companies.

I know, it would still be hilarious if they were THAT adamant about it.

artists still make money when their songs are streamed on spotify (and i assume the labels do too) so if avex did end up forcing their foreign fans to convert to spotify, they'd still be making money. not a lot, but it'd be there. though why the hell would they choose spotify over physical copies when physical copies bring in so much more money? i doubt it's a manufacturing financial issue

I copied this joke from JPS (oops) but gotta showcase it for the sake of fitting humor:

Avex might be pretty much this with their "Japan only!"-policy, snickers.

Man, I don't even care. Just let me buy your shit lol.

But hey,

They do this because of anime...

But... lots of anime gets recorded form the TV and then translated, just like Dragon Ball Super....

And those you can download too, so no wonder why nobody want to freaking DVD or Blu-ray.

but AVEX really should cut down this crap, it won't work.
