Besides, I think it's a bit unrealistic (and even inauthentic) to NOT include more than one entry per artist - especially if it's an artist/band that you're REALLY into. I also think it's a better representation of your taste, personally. I just got mad at myself for not reading it thoroughly before I jumped into it. lol. So I guess I did the "basic" version, not the "challenge" version. violetchain 912 Posted August 1, 2016 So I just filled in the boxes that were on the site and I accidentally ended up with a top 42 instead of 50. No particular order after the first 10 or so. I feel like I'm going to remember a ton of releases I missed later, but this is what I could think of right now off the top of my head and using my old last.fm account. It was actually really hard to get up to 42, and some of these probably wouldn't be on the list if I put a bit more thought into it, but oh well. Also, I cheated and added two compilations. (TMGE and Mr.Children). hiroki 5521 Posted August 1, 2016 i took this way too seriously and spent 2 days cutting the list down from 200+ shortlisted entries ._. only the first 10 are in order since it's too time-consuming to rank the rest. i kept my list to 1 entry per artist (there's too much goodness~) but cheated in another way: some bands that are extremely dear to me didn't stick around long enough so i was forced to select singles for those bands XD i also realized after making my list that it's 100% vk, but i doubt it would have differed significantly even if i had ventured beyond it. overall it's representative of my taste 3 CAT5, Pretsy and doombox reacted to this Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

As it was said, as long as you are able to envision your Japanese taste there (like, what exactly is your "enjoyable taste" and not just "I am okay with this"), it's all fine - even with more than one artist mention. I decided to go with the one-album-per-artist rule afterall, but I cheated by not ranking any of these (that would take way too long for me). Everything here consists of albums and EPs only, but there are some great singles, soundtracks, splits, and compilations I would have liked to include too. There are some things I couldn't fit in and I'm seeing now that I forgot about some stuff too lol. oh well! It's funny because I realized when making this that I'm much more of a "song person", as in I tend to listen to specific songs far more than I do full albums. I often just make playlists of songs/albums with a particular mood/style and just shuffle them, but I digress. This has been a fun little introspective exercise. I've noticed that a lot of albums I filed away in my brain as 'favorites', like "The Rose God Gave me" by SADS, or "DIM" by the gazettE, have not really grown with me throughout the years. I also noticed that there are many bands that I enjoy a ton of songs from, yet those songs are all scattered throughout the band's discography and there are no albums that I could consider a favorite - THE BACK HORN and sleepy.ab are examples of this. As mentioned above, there is no ranking here -> everything is roughly in alphabetical order!
