Oh shit, I take back what I said about none of mine being enduring. I just realized I've had a crush on Chiba Yusuke for like 6~8 years now. God, time flies. He is starting to look his age recently, but the combination of the grizzled old rock star image he's built up in the last ten years or so and the cute, playful side that comes out in videos like Calendar Girl still just kills me.

I have a few here and there, but it's never anything enduring since I don't fantasize about going on dates and stuff like that - it's mainly just a visual thing.

Really wish I liked Taku from Jeepta's new project more than I do. His voice still sounds great, and there's nothing horribly wrong with it, but all the songs they have up so far just seem to fall so flat compared to something like this:

Hiroshi from ROTTENGRAFFTY posts a lot of pictures with his son. I vaguely recall hearing Naoki mention in one of their videos that he's divorced.

Wagakki Band have lovely outfits, but the music does absolutely nothing for me. Going the opposite way, if we're not limited to just Japanese bands: Enuff Z'Nuff have some great songs, but their early videos and clothes are an abomination even by hair metal standards. It's a shame that this is the image people are always going to associate with their work:

Zoolander 2. I love the first Zoolander movie, and I went into it with extremely low expectations, but the ending (and most of the middle, tbh) was just so bad. I was actually shocked that it wasn't supposed to be a dream, it made so little sense. There are a few fun moments that made it worth seeing (Kiefer Sutherland, Mugatu and the lotion commercial), and some of the costumes are cool, but a lot of the scenes are downright insulting to watch. I don't know why comedy sequels insist on inserting such lazy, heavy-handed references to the original film. The parts with the kid are just brutal too. I'll give Ben Stiller one thing, though: he looks fabulous for his age. Makeup is probably a big part of it, but he barely looks any older in this one than in the first movie.

Man, Chiba has so much stamina recently. I swear The Birthday just released an album and he's already got two more done. Glad they're continuing with this project since it seems like Imai really brings out his fun side.

Gotta throw in a mention for this video song here too, for obvious reasons. I also dance like an idiot to UCHUSENTAI:NOIZ's "Sentimental Dropkick". It's gloriously cheesy fun. Speaking of cheesy, there was a fairly obscure American glam/sleaze rock band called Electric Angels that was formed by members of another band I like, and for some reason I find their song "Rattlesnake Kisses" irresistible to dance to. Couldn't say why, since I don't really care for the rest of their stuff, but something about that song gets me every time.

Man, the things I've missed. First I find out the Bang Tango movie was released, then that they did a reunion show with the original line-up, and now there's glorious old live footage of them like this on Youtube. God, that's a fabulous version of Soul to Soul at 9:23.

Weird coincidence: apparently the guy that's been making a documentary about Bang Tango for the past few years just released it for free online last month. It gets a little heavy handed trying to make you believe that they're not a hair metal band and that Love After Death is a lost masterpiece (it's really not that hard to find now that the internet exists), and it's sad to watch Joe slowly deteriorate as the video gets more current, but wow, that early live footage is great.

Hanoi Rocks are basically essential listening for anyone not familiar with glam or sleaze rock. While some people lump them in with hair metal bands, their sound is much more punk rock/rock n roll, and it’s timeless, fun and eclectic. They also inspired some of the biggest bands from the hair metal scene, like Guns N Roses, Motley Crue, etc. While Tesla were fairly successful, I always feel like they don’t get enough love, so I was really happy to see Lestat mention them in the intro post for this thread. Bang Tango are a hidden gem, IMO. Love the dark, funky vibe they had on the “Dancin on Coals” album in particular. Joe LeSte used to have such a sexy voice. It's a shame that he's such a wreck these days.
