I don't know what I would do without music as I have it playing almost 24/7. I'm a musician myself (drummer) so maybe that's what draws me into music so much. I lack a big emotional connection to a certain group like you have stated, but I do personally know a handful of local bands that have made it big if that counts.

Always have my music on my left monitor. I also hate icons and the taskbar being there, so that's all hidden. Really basic.

All of this. I personally dont like physical CDs at all. I'm always a bit scared to buy an album from Japan since they cost so much, and I only have an idea of one/maybe two songs sound like on it. Like I said earlier, Japanese bands probably don't want to deal with the extra fees in the digital age, but every single band in America doesn't mind due to ease of access for all. I'm really supportive of digital downloads. I have 406 different artist's music, and only own four physical CDs (all which are imported from Japan because I couldn't buy them digitally). It took a while for digital music to be big in the US years and years ago, but it did. Who knows, years down the road we might see the same happen in Japan.

I'm more drifting this towards the metal[core]/hardcore genre, but this can apply to VK/Punk/JRock/whatever as well. I know in America most bands want to focus first and foremost on making sure their new album is available for digital download, whether that be on iTunes or Bandcamp. I'm aware the process for getting your music on iTunes is fairly difficult (as well as fees), but Bandcamp can easily be used anywhere across the world. So why do you think Japanese bands do not use these options for their Western fans, or for those who don't like importing? If you're a band, you know you have friends outside of your county so it's not like they think only people in Japan are going to listen to their music.

Found out about this band yesterday. EP sounds like its going to be amazing!

I believe my first experience with Japanese music was Girugamesh's "Music" album. I didn't know anything about music overseas at that point and was really turned off by the way they looked (VK). No offense to the genre or anyone on here, it's just not my thing. I loved the music though, but I drifted away from it since I thought all bands were like that. Some time later, it was either Crossfaith's "The Artificial Theory For The Dramatic Beauty" or Her Name In Blood's early demos that drew me back in, and forever in.

Oh man, thanks so much for the suggestions! Found some amazing bands in your lists. Already had a couple, but I can't any downloads for Hammerhead Shark's music and I can't find Infection's "The Armchair Theory" either Thanks a ton.

Arise In Stability is awesome. Can't wait for more material from them. Here's a list of all the bands I have from Japan, if anyone has any recommendations similar to these that are not listed, please do tell. Most of this is either metalcore/hardcore, so check a band out if you haven't heard of them and are on this list.
