listening to doginthePWO and having a weirdly specific nostalgic flashback to a time i was sitting in the park in the city centre in the August sun with my weeb friends, we were all arguing about death note ships. we had my oshare folder playing on shuffle on a portable speaker. we're all wearing studded rainbow belts and have awkwardly gelled spiked hair in some kind of budget-vk/scene kid combo. one kid literally just wore his L cosplay and took his fucking shoes off outdoors in a public park to complete the look. the same kid brought his copy of the first volume of black butler (which had JUST come out in english) and we all huddled round and read it over his shoulder lmao, with A9 and paradeis playing in the background like it was the most normal shit ever. i really miss those times ;-; 

There's such a deep shift happening this year, globally. Just when you think you might be safe for the rest of the year, an identity crisis hits. 

tried to rip a misa tape to replace the rip floating around that sounds like it was recorded underwater and i was hoping to make a clearer one where you can actually make out what the fuck he's saying... turns out he either just recorded it like that, or in a million-to-one shot, i own the exact same copy that the original rip was made from

Since quarintine became a thing, some Japanese fellows on Youtube have been ripping and uploading a lot of VHS/DVD VK stuff they had collected. This user in particular shared the entire videography of Eins:Vier, and now this PV from a band I didn't know from its existence, but hey, what a great song! It sounds like your typical mid 90s underground VK artist in the claustrophobic post-punk line of Zi:Kill/Kuroyume, but those arrangements! Very inspired for a bunch of indie bandoman! Perhaps they could have done great stuff if they continued to work on together...

please help, i think my son is addicted to rarez. he's stopped caring about anything else. he hasn't showered in weeks, he just sits in that room looking at zenmarket all day. he punches holes in the wall whenever a sniper bid denies him a live-distributed demo tape from a show attended by 10 people at some venue that closed its doors in 2001. at first i was so proud because i thought he was taking up learning french, but as it turns out he was just naming old japanese goth twink boy-bands? what do i do?

Is it just me, or do Jesse and James from Pokemon look like the kind of people who'd listen to Visual Kei in the early 90s?
I could imagine Jesse listening to X Japan and COLOR while James listens to D'erlanger and Zi:Kill.
Also my headcanon is that they met at a Kamaitachi concert

When I suddenly remember that there still isn't any Starwave Records artist that reached at least a minimum level of relevance in the scene, I question myself how is it that this label still exists, and why would an artist decide to get signed to a house who hasn't managed to put out any decent production and market strategy for any of its members...

I think the VK influence in both is pretty obvious judging by some core arrangements into their music, and also the looks on some of the male members. I wonder why they don't seem to have ever wandered a bit into the VK circuit. Judging by their respective wide catalogs of songs done for anime shows and videogames, and their live performances packed with dudes, I think they preferably managed to hook up an otaku audience, just as any other regular anison project. Also, it's obvious thath the fact of them both having a female singer sets this marketing strategy perfectly.
