Surprised this hasn't been posted yet. I made it to the Los Angeles concert and it was one of the best concerts I've been to.

Not really a fan of vkei, especially recently, but I sorta like their older stuff produced by tk of Rin Toshite Shigure.

I want to say I don't like it but, it actually depends. At a certain point you can just consider it part of the artist's identity. Look at bands like Perfume, AKB48, and Morning Musume or American artists like Rihanna and Britney Spears. Each of these have their own (somewhat) unique identity, their own style, their own personality, and their own fans. Do they write their own music? Probably not. But that doesn't stop people people from writing stuff that fits their style, doesn't stop them from picking what they think actually fits their style, and doesn't stop them from performing it using their talents. In fact, there are also many musicians out there that got famous performing other people's works... even if the original artists of it did not.

Why not: Foo Fighters - The Colour and the Shape (Post grunge) How can this not be representative of post grunge. It's a band by Dave Grohl, the only mainstream performing member of Nirvana, combining the grunge style of Nirvana with more pop influences.. It's produced by the producer of one of Nirvana's biggest influences, the Pixies. Hits such as "Monkey Wrench," "My Hero," and "Everlong" were repeatedly played during MTV in it's day. Radiohead - OK Computer (experimental alternative rock) This album is the point where they started becoming more experimental. Has hits like "Paranoid Android", "Karma Police" and "No Surprises." Daft Punk - Discovery (electro house) Probably one of the most known electro-house bands to people unfamiliar with the electro house genre. This band pretty much made me like electro and reminds my favorite electro band. Weezer - Pinkerton (emo) While this is not an emo album it went on to inspire many emo artists. And Asian Kung-fu Generation. And it's awesome. Anyway I like this one. Interpol - Antics (Post-punk Revival) This is one of the albums I'd recommend to people who like rock and haven't yet listened to Interpol. All instrumental and vocal parts are well put together. Jay-Z - The Blueprint 3 (Rap) Because this thread (and even my post) seems to be dominated by rock with hints of electronica. I wanted to choose Snoop Dogg or Dr. Dre from this category but I only knew one song off of each of their "best" albums. Anyway, people like this one and I know a few songs off of it. The Cure - Greatest Hits (New Wave) I think the Cure is one of the best New Wave albums but most of their best songs are spread around. So you get the greatest hit. Pixies - Doolittle (Indie) This band influenced many well-known English bands such as Radiohead, Nirvana, Weezer, and Muse. They've also influenced Japanese bands such as Number Girl. These bands went on to influence about half of what was on the radio. Doolittle in particular has many of their more well known "hits" such as "Debaser" and "Here comes your man." N.E.R.D - Fly or Die (Rap-rock) Not much to say about this band. A rap-rock band by one of the biggest rap production groups. Features artists such as Lenny Kravitz and the Madden brothers from Good Charlotte. This is more of an IMO best, because both this album and band seems to not be that known.

I'm not surprised a lot of you here like Cinema Staff. Singer probably has the closest visual kei-voice of all j-indie bands.

I've only heard their first mini-album as well. Haven't had a chance to find or buy Parallel. Yep. I guess they made a... come back.. I don't have it yet though. Yeah, that was really one of the few songs that struck out off that album.I still need to find albums for both 八?八ヶ所巡礼 and クリープ??イプ. IMO 昆虫キッズ is overall less-grating on the ears and more produced... just the guy isn't able to sing. Instrumentals are pretty awesome. Probably not. I did friend/leave a comment on your last.fm a while ago (under the nick kenjiikari), and I see you around j-indie sites a lot, though.

Guess I can come out of the woodwork now. I only found this site due to searching for stuff from some indie bands and finding aion mentioning them here. I stayed to occasionally check the download section. While anime got me a bit interested in some semi-indie bands with Shocking Lemon, AKFG, The Pillows, School food punishment, etc years ago, the band that really got me into j-indie was Ling tosite. They've been my favorite band for at least the last year and a half and I've pretty much just been exploring the j-indie world to find bands that give off the same vibe. Since then I got into the more emotional/post-hardcore/math-rock stuff like Art School, The Novembers, Pegmap, Number Girl, Perfect Piano Lesson, and recently the Cabs. I also love stuff with awesome bass lines. Here's some recent crap I like: Pegmap'「Touch?? From their recent "Come Back" ep. This band loves to cry-sing. UMmUVpvjK6I UNCHAIN 「Super Collider??
