hmm, i find this rather interesting. i was only subtly aware of it, but i didn't know it happened to so many people. let alone, people who completely converted to kpop and denied ever listening to vk. when i found out that some people i knew started listening to kpop i just thought, ummm okay, and thought nothing more of it. maybe they were just into that kind of music and i wasn't. i guess in my case of why it didn't happen to me is because i already listened to a little of kpop before i got into vk, hell even before i listened to jpop. did it, done it, and most likely never going back (kpop from the 90s is totally different from kpop today anyway). but i'm not gonna go around denying that i ever listened to any of that. also, after discovering vk, and getting bored of it at some point, i realized that there was more to explore in the rock genre so i branched off from there rather than shifting towards kpop.

i was wondering where this thread was because surely you guys wouldn't have forgotten about this awesome genre! well, i finally found it. i love post-rock, but i still haven't heard a great amount of bands. i mostly like mono, inspirative, and pg.lost. and you could say envy too even though they're more screamo and hardcore. i've heard a bit of god is an astronaut and el ten eleven too. anyway, it seems like inspirative is not very well-known here. they're a talented thai post-rock band. here's a sample from their new album just last year. but i would really recommend stuff from their 2010 album.

i first saw the video from eve's blog with miku's voice only, and damn it sounds so much better with yuuki's voice! this is quite awesome~

still new to this kind of genre and don't know much, but i found this japanese band a while back and just went through their discography recently. sora and actually, i just found out that one of the members is in killie? i tried one of their songs a couple years ago and thought they were too screamo for me, haha....that was back then. that sample you put up was quite nice though, cat! i checked a few bands listed here already but i'll come back and check the rest later~ lots of neat stuff here!

ryo (baroque/kannivalism) - there are so few people who sing like him. his voice is most distinctive from the early baroque days, raspy and super relaxing when he slurs and sings in a quiet tone. but he is also amazing when he sings with his full output too, most often in kannivalism. i don't understand why he would start using autotune nowadays. ryutaro (plastic tree) - of course i will mention ryutaro. his voice is childish, angelic, and lovely; like that from another world. and he sings painfully beautiful when he strains himself. mako (deadman) - mako's voice is so distinctive from all the other deep vocals out there; powerful and amazing, and full of emotion. personally, i think this is quite a huge loss from vk. there will be no other vocalist with a stunning deep voice like him. kyotaro (eight, Black:List, COCKROACH., LAST OF FATE) - his voice really is amazing and i wish he would come back to the vk industry and scream/growl like that again.....anything after Black:List sucks. emiru (aicle., yeti) - those delicate, yet chaotic vocals, emiru sings with unique versatility. his singing style in yeti is not as awesome though, but it's still quite nice~ i will also mention maru (bis) and saki (ClearVeil) because they were amazing and i miss them. they're practically just gone now. ;__;

I wish I paid more attention to lyrics........I only read two or three from bands I like. Or either I come across a bad translation and don't grasp the real meaning of the song. I've read quite a few of Plastic Tree's though (thank goodness for all the good translations!), but I can't say that I've read most of them. They have so many songs anyway! But every time I read a new one, Ryutaro's beautiful writing always gets to me. His lyrics are tangible, bittersweet, sad, and most often times about loneliness. Recently, now that I know an adequate amount of Japanese, I've found it more effective to read lyrics in Japanese while listening. But I'm not saying that my Japanese is sufficient enough to understand them fully either. I mainly do this because some lyrics I want to read haven't been translated to english yet...AND it's always nice to read the original~ Kobayashi from THE NOVEMBERS I've read a few from Tsukiko Amano too, and I especially really like this one. The whole song is spoken word, which works out quite nicely while listening.

haha, i remember this game! i played it years ago and i would love to play it again since it's been so long! ps1 and ps2 have a lot of great games! i don't know too much about snes games, but i've played some. and unfortunately i never finished most of them. i mean, i remember bahamut lagoon being really hard...has anyone here played that? ugh, i've been wanting to play saturn/dreamcast games for so long!! it's too bad that i can't figure out how to make the emulators work on my pc. :/ oh, and since someone mentioned the sailor moon rpg, tenchi muyo also had a tactics rpg game on snes, haha. i don't know if i finished it, but i remember playing it.

these guys would sound a lot better if it weren't for the vocals. he needs improvement. :/

i killed someone in my dream. in short, these two guys broke into my apartment through the window and shattered the glass. i freaked out so i grabbed some scissors and stabbed one of them in the chest twice and he died. the other guy escaped, but it didn't matter because i didn't want to kill anymore. i get the best dreams when i'm really tired.
