sorry @togzi hope i didn't confuse you with my correction from the other thread .__. i might need more context with what you're trying to say. the usage can also differ depending on how you phrase it. i think for に来ている you use it when the 'subject' is coming/visiting/is here. an example would be "BANDはPLACEに来ている" (BAND is coming to/is at PLACE). Or it can be shortened as "PLACEに来ている" ([they are] coming to/visiting/at PLACE). using the later example you can also say "ライブに来ている" ([they are/someone is] coming to/at this live), which might have been what you're friends were referring to? it's also important to note that the particle に designates a place or target of action. so in this case whatever comes before に来ている will always be a place/event. if you replace the particle with が though, the preceding noun will be a person. for example, Aさんが来てる (A is coming/here). can you tell me the phrase you used for 行き? sorry if my explanation is not very clear but i hope that helps. I have been thinking about creating one myself as well~ ^^ (it works a lot better than just having that one single thread) Name: plastic_rainbow Age: 23 Years studied: 3 years of formal Japanese classes at University, the rest is self-taught so a total of 5 years probably Estimated level: I'd say moderate to advanced. I've gotten rusty ever since I left uni. :/ Knowledge of Hiragana/Katakana: All Kanji: 1500-2000 characters I think? That doesn't mean I can write them all tho lol, but I will usually recognize them if I see them. What is your main goal with studying Japanese?: Be able to read faster and comprehend the contents cuz lawd that takes so much time. I want to reach at a level where I can read Japanese novels because even reading manga is still quite hard for me. What materials have you used before?: Genki Elementary + Intermediate, and a few other books which I can't remember the titles of. Some of them came with audio cds. I also tried Lang-8 for a while. from what i've seen there are definitely japanese male fans out there, it's just that they make up a smaller portion of the overall vk fan base. i remember seeing at least a couple male fans when i went to see mejibary and arlequin. who knows, maybe there are male fans who like the music but don't attend the lives? since they mainly appeal to female fans. i've always wondered what a boys only live was like. do they do things differently from usual...? @Takadanobabaalien what was your experience like and did it seem different than a normal vk live with mostly females in the crowd? that avelcain boys only live sounds fun btw....... for non-vk shows it seems like a mixed bag to me since it's less on the visuals/opposite sex and more about liking the music itself. unless of course, if we're talking about idol groups/boy groups then the opposite gender will likely make up the majority of the fan base.

It's been 4 years since FOX LOCO PHANTOM's last release and at last they'll be releasing a new mini album titled "心臓ディストーション". It will be released ahead of time on 2017.10.10 at their live Daikanyama Unit, while a general release will come later which is yet to be announced (and hopefully available for overseas fans). The mini album contains 6 new tracks and a DVD with a selection of their 20 best live performances.

I found out about Decay FM sometime this year and I love it! I haven't tuned into it a whole lot, but there are a ton of neat finds there~ They also have an app which is great if you want to listen to it on the go. I haven't heard of most of these blogs so thanks for sharing! The blog Shoegazer Alive seems especially cool since it focuses on other genres that I'm interested in. I don't have anything to share atm except for a blog called Muso Japan. It mostly contains reviews on Japanese shoegaze releases, but is really great if you're interested in receiving news on whatever is recent in Japan. They also air on Decay FM once in a while, mostly on a Wednesday.

I watched the old It (1990) the other day so that I'd have it fresh in my head when watching the new movie this coming weekend. My cousins had the vhs tape so I saw it several times at their place when I was younger. I only remembered bits of pieces but watching it now as an adult made me realize how heartwarming it was?? I felt that I liked it more as a coming-of-age/friendship film than a horror film. It was similar to Stand By Me but just with a funny ass clown and the nature of fear added in. I think the new It will take away some of this aspect and focus largely on the scare element, which I'm okay with but not okay with at the same time. It will probably be still interesting nevertheless.

Post your recent Japanese shoegaze discoveries here, whether they're old or new~ ^^ COLLAPSE - These guys a pretty recent and dropped a new single earlier this year. They may be another shoegaze band with sugary female vocals, but they sound good! CURSE/DROP by COLLAPSE 溶けない名前 (tokenai namae) - A neat little band with both female and male vocalists. This is an older song of theirs so the composition is a little rough but I love the young and sweet-sounding male vocals here, which you don't hear very often in Japanese shoegaze. It's quite unfortunate that he does more of the back vocals now, it seems. 雨の中の馬 (amenonakanouma) - This was a random find on soundcloud. The quality is pretty low and fuzzy, but that's shoegaze/noise and self-recorded music for you. It's a rather simple song but surprisingly pleasing at the same time. I love it.

i liked mucc, the novembers, pelican fanclub, and kishidan. the rest were.....meh
