I was talking to someone today about their dead-beat "baby daddy", and they started making excuses for them... saying, "well, they never learned how to be a dad"... I replied, "the only way to learn how to be a dad is to do it"... They had no choice but to smirk in agreeance. - Why is it that people have this disembodied belief that you can learn something without actually having to do it? Or that you have to scale some arbitrary benchmark of knowledge before you can do something? i mean...you can't learn an instrument without actually playing it. No more than you can learn how to drive without getting behind the wheel. As heady as coding is, you still gotta type that shit out. Hell, even in spiritual matters - action is still required. I didn't start believing in "God" until I experienced him. And funny enough, it took me having to be humbled to the point where I realized my own intellect was no longer sufficient. As I began "to walk with God", and actually do what the bible says, then that's when the understanding came to me. And the more I continue to do, the more the bible continues to prove itself and confirm its truth in my experience. It often freaks me out in the most wonderful way imaginable! But I digress... It seems this disconnect between thought and action is endemic to Western culture in general. We've fallen so deeply in love with our own intellect that we've lost touch with the sheer magic of our own reality and experience. However, the Eastern/African culture of the Bible is rooted in functional action. In fact, each word in the Hebrew language points towards a concrete action. Surely, they understood that true knowledge and understanding only comes from "doing" and actually acting things out. From reality. Not endlessly wanking our intellects. .... Well, that went from 0 to 60 in no time. I'm sorry y'all. This is just how I think

  9. So my status about TK reminded me of an interesting epiphany I had recently concerning male vocalists in J-rock:

Generally speaking, I've had way more trouble getting into (male) VK vocalists than I have (male) non-VK vocalists. However, I actually enjoy more VK vocalists than non-VK vocalists.

    Let me explain

With pretty much all of my favorite non-VK bands (except maybe one or two ), the vocalists "fit" the band, but they don't really do anything for me outside the context of that band's sound (TK for instance). However, within VK, there are more vocalists that can move me by their vocals alone...for instance, I've gotten chills listening to the singing of ppl like Hizumi, Atsushi Sakurai, Morrie, old Satsuki, Sho, even Asagi...that's not even a lot, but that's still a lot more than the non-VK vocalists I can name that have elicited the same reaction from me. :wan-03:

  10. I love TK, but SHEESH!!! Dude was a J-indie legend and an absolute demon on the fret board...but I would have never imagined he'd be making hot-Jpop-garbage like this with a tall glass of dumpster juice.

TK know damn well he shouldn't be singing no generic ballad shit like this with a voice like his. The climax sounds like someone intentionally singing bad just to take the piss 🤣

@Peace Heavy mk II - Piisu, I can't even be mad at you today (cuz u right). 🤣 I've grown to love TK, but I can't even lie, he's a vocalist that I LEARNED to love (in the context of the music) simply because I enjoyed his band's music so much. But as you can see, if you take away the cool music, then you'll be left cringing for an eternity.

  11. Regardless of what you may think or feel about what is going on in the world, the fact is that The Reaper is very busy in the Earth right now. Many people are dying. Indeed, many people are dying all the time, but scarcely in a fashion such as this. So if you have any beef or petty squabbles with anyone, do yourself a favor and get over that bullshit. Let that shit go. Forgive whomever you need to. Ask for forgiveness if you need to. Have those tough talks that you've been avoiding. Remind your loved ones of how much you love them. Show mercy to those who've betrayed or fucked you over, because no doubt you've wronged other ppl before too. None of us know how much time we have here, so might as well leave with a clean conscious or at least give others a chance to. Make right what you need to.

I'm talking to myself as well.

    Shalom~

I wonder if österreich will actually release an album this year? Either way, it's great to see AI Kamano still active.

oh shit! My bad, man. I had no idea this is how the polls operated. I just added an option for "none". Hope this helps! As for me - when I first got into J-rock (2004/2005-ish) i had a bad habit of downloading albums, and just skimming through them and keeping whatever appealed to me at the time. LUNA SEA was one of the bands I did that with, so I've liked a random batch of their songs for a while (stuff like "sweetest coma again", "into the sun", "be gone"), but I got caught up in so much other music that I just never bothered to go back and actually give their albums a full listen. It wasn't until I saw soko ni naru's cover of "Rosier" that I got interested in hearing the original: And so I literally just got around to listening to this album maybe a month or two ago, and it's a great listen! Obviously, I'd be lying if I said I considered this album a classic (as I clearly don't have much of history with this record), but I can definitely see why it's considered one. Sugizo's guitar work and composing has even been a huge influence in younger, non-VK bands like Ling Tosite Sigure and soko ni naru. So it's clear that LUNA SEA has had a far-reaching impact. Imma definitely have to dig into some of their other albums now!

^ It seems they dropped the new album for free due to COVID-19 and all the resulting madness. A friend on my social media wrote the following:

Nice! Given the look of the album cover, I wonder if they're gonna go for a harder sound this time?
