Let's not forget that, music overall has no nationality, overall. If you talk about sound that has Indian, Korean or Japanse sound, it is correct when there are traditional instrunents used. Personally IMO rock music along with other known genres is something universal. The part with Plastic Tree suprised me though. I'm not the band's fan, but I once came across on their info, that they took a big influence from bands like Radiohead or The Cure. However these generic stereotyping terms (I mean Jrock, Jpop and Visual Kei, or even) are just massively overused when it comes to Japanese music. The reason why lot of pepole, including me, think, that this term is foolish is because under that name I usually see either bands that have made an opening/ending song for a popular anime series or visual kei. Some people hear it, they really say that it "represents" Japanese national sound *facepalm*. I really don't get it. Japanese music is trurely more than all of this, since if you take a close look you will find there a wide arrange of genres, like rap, rock, funk, metal, punk-rock and so on. Despite everything, people who aren't any familiar with Japanese music somehow buy all these ignorant stereotypes about music and it's fans, as a result giving us all bad name, like saying that anyone who listens to Japanese bands is a crazy otaku freak, which just disturbs me. Not only that, the reason why I know that it is used in Japan is mainly so shoppers will know, oh hey this band sings in Japanese. Lets say for example the US is a French speaking country with most people only speaking French and I went to the record store and wanted to buy something in French. It just helps because oh hey look this band is labeled as F-Rock so I know I'm getting something in French. I just dislike J-rock being used because like you said it's overused and I feel like does a disservice to the artist or band. If I try to introduce Gallhammer or Sigh to a metal fan and said LOL DIS IS J-ROCK do you think they'll want to listen to it? No, because lets face it, J-Rock is now more or less associated with weeaboos and otaku culture and most people will think of this when they hear someone say J-Rock.

Okay now I'm embarrassed but less confused. I think 「M」 is a mislabeled song by whoever uploaded it to the Internet years ago. I just listened to the track Ramrod upload, I didn't originally since it was labeled as 蝕 (Shoku) and thought it was the same song from the omnibus. Well turns out that the version provided on the Ma'ria single is actually a re-recording of the omnibus song which is the god damn song 「M」. So yeah, I'm thinking whoever originally uploaded Ma'ria on the Internet labeled 蝕 (Shoku) as 「M」 when it should have just been 蝕 (Shoku) to begin with. WELL SHIT! So in the end, all I needed was the Ma'ria version of Shoku ¯\ (ツ) /¯ NOW WE CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT! Well maybe, what the hell is 「M」 about then? It's has lyrics and everything but I sure as hell can't understand Kyouka's screaming so if anyone wants to unravel that mystery for us, be my guest.

I've always notice that when it comes to what is popular, the Japanese fan following is the opposite from the West. For example the former UCP band E'm~grief~ was pretty popular among Western fans but if you watch live clips, hardly anyone in the audience for them. This is true for anime as well, it was either Outlaw Star or Trigun but they have large following of Western Otakus that still cosplay as characters from the shows but from what I understand they had incredibly low television ratings in Japan and was aired at some ridiculous hour at night (like 2am or whatever). I think Zess sums it all up the best, I was originally posting from my cellphone but the point I was making is that since most Visual fans seem to already come from a goth, punk or some sort of sub-culture that is defined by how you dress and behave, it's almost natural for you to sort of try to do the same for Visual Kei because that's how you behaved with those sub-cultures. Funny you bring that up, I know people that have gotten into Jet to teach English AND DO NOT SPEAK ANY JAPANESE! Fucking art major I know got into Jet and went there to fuck around and try to live his dream of being a manga artist even though he can't even read Hiragana.

So my roomie was like, this sounds like the same generic piss poor crap you listen to all the time. So yeah, even my roommate says it sounds like the same bullshit you hear from VK and they don't even listen to VK. Regardless of where he is from, it just sounds like the same nonsense that is coming out of VK right now. Personally I don't care where he is from and always thought Seremedy received a lot of unfair hate from the crazies but even if this was from a Japanese artist I still wouldn't care much for it. Anyway, I was hoping for something more metal-ish buuuuuut it's just pop-rock stuff that I don't care much for. The one thing that I dislike the most is the random br00tal segment.
-
I think perhaps because many people that are into Visual Kei tend to already be a part of a sub-culture that share similarities to visual Kei. If not, they're usually a nerd that then tries to belong to something by dressing like VK artists to try and fit in and be cool. I use to be your typical rocker punk chick with black eye liner, torn jeans and band shirts. So when I started getting into Visual Kei, it wasn't that hard to start to drift towards a clothing style that emulated the bands. I was already doing that to some extent for some of the metal and punk artist I like so it wasn't that hard and seemed almost like the natural thing to do. Especially because I was a dumb teenager y'know. As for JAY RAWK. I think the reason why J-rock is used the most outside of Japan to describe Visual Kei bands is because Visual Kei is what is most popular outside of Japan. No one cares about the average looking band, everyone wants the bands that look like anime characters. I'm sure if more normal indie bands where as popular as Visual Kei with Western fans people would be describing them as J-rock too.

It's not from his solo release, first thing I checked

Laaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeee Thanks for looking though! Inartistic said his copy was also static. I'm writing this off as TROLOLOLOLING!
-
You seem to have the second press because that song is Shoku. Thank you though! I do have a rip of both songs already, what I'm curious about now and also bummed is why my copy doesn't play that bonus track.
-
Doesn't work in the car CD player either, well shoot. That's what I'm starting to think. I did just buy the second pressing so whenever it arrives in the next month or so, I'll see if the bonus track on it works. This sucks! /firstworldproblems
-
Nope, installed it and gave it a try and still won't play correctly. The only other stand alone CD player I own is in my car, so I'll go jump in there after I finish what I'm doing to see if the song will play in the car. Otherwise, what the hell? The CD isn't damaged or scratched either. Also I just bought the second pressing because I'm a completionist huehuehue.
-
iTunes but it also won't play in Media Player either. The rest of the CD plays fine though, those first three songs are totally a-okay but it's that 13th track that is just static. So I don't understand what the problem might be.
-
I have the first press (need that second pressing now). The booklet I have list M as the 13th track but that track is just static noise. The CD plays fine though, I can confirm that but the 13th track is clearly not the song. Is there some sort of wizardy that would cause the track not to play correctly on a PC? ¯\ (ツ) /¯ Also scans from my booklet ~ http://zombiejuice.net/scans/alienemaria001.jpg http://zombiejuice.net/scans/alienemaria002.jpg

Agree with filtear, there's some talented guys in this band (except Juka fuck that guy) so I will keep an eye on some of them to see if they move onto newer more promising looking bands. That's probably best news here.

w0p8JzSXz0A?t=6s So I was fucking around and looking at some of my stuff and realized I didn't have the track M from Aliene. I own about 99% of their discography minus some demo tapes and was surprised I didn't have this song ripped already. I looked and saw that it is listed as a bonus track off the single Ma'ria and so I pulled it out to rip the song but found that it's not on the single at all. There's 13 tracks, the first three being Virgin Mary, α~精神異常者の脳内麻薬~ and revive of course and the rest of it filler with a 4:00 song at the end of just static. Soooooooooo, when was M released? Was there multiple pressings of Ma'ria and one of them included this song? I need to know BECAUSE I MUST HAVE IT D:< Thanks! lololol

Nothing of value was lost. Pretty much. I did have some hopes for this band when they were announced, but Black Bird was a real letdown. I think I tried one more release after that, and it wasn't much better. The compositions were a mess, Juka's falsettos made me cringe, and the 3 guitarists seemed pointless, since the songs barely sounded like they had 2 guitarists. Maybe they improved later, but I think at that time they already lost many people. Sorry for their fans though. Indeed, I probably would have liked them but Black Bird sucked so much. Their music was such a cluster fuck, it was like they really didn't have any idea what to do with the three guitarist. It was Erina doing some bland chug chug riff while the other two dudes just did a bunch of sweep picking. Also Juka's awful falsetto was horrible, someone needed to punch that dude in the throat.

I had read it was because he became really ill and had to do some serious recovery.

The fuck I don't understand Tatsuya can sing, he doesn't need autotune.

Can't tell if being sarcastic lolololol

It's funnier to make fun of the silly things that he does, not the way he looks.

So, this is one facet of Visual Kei I could never get into or understand. My lady friends love it, they call it musing and call their characters muses and have tried to get me into it but I just can't. The closest I've come to RPing was Dungeon and Dragons or just playing single player RPG games. I've never been able to get a straight answer on what the appeal is, one says that she likes to write and it helps her writing. So if you RP as Visual Kei artists why do you do it? What's appealing about it? Is it because Visual Kei is loosely connected with anime so a lot of fans that had already been RPing as their favourite anime toons could easily just switch in their favourite Visual Kei artist? But why Visual Kei? I've never seen jazz, pop or metal RP or other Japanese artists. No Borris, Sigh or Gallhammer RP. Maybe there is and I've just never been exposed to it. (Kpop doesn't count since a lot of fans are former VK/Jrock fans) Is it because Visual Kei artists mask themselves with a somewhat aloof image and keep a lot of their life private so it leaves room for fans to speculate and imagine? I can see some artists like Malice Mizer members, Versailles and D that carry a strong fantasy image and build a world around it easy targets for RP. That I can totally understand that, I guess it's ones based off artists that just wear typical fashion brands like Vivid, Gazette or SuG. Did I already answer my own questions?

My actual bedroom is pretty normal, just a bed, dresser and all that. Most of my home is like that actually. So here is my corner of the living room. This desk is actually one of three and it wraps around with another two gaming PCs. The place is kind of a dump right now because we're moving so boxes and junk are kind of all over the place so I don't want to really take a picture of my home looking like it was hit by a tornado.
