I'm not sure if trolling or not, but i'll bite

Fair fucks to them for that, although it doesn't looke like the manchild audience was much captivated by them when their pinned tweet about the new song has a whopping 73 likes and 28 retweets ( and make sure to take out the ones from the band itself, so deduct about -5 on them retweets. ) Even on youtube it's not really setting the world on fire at 21k views in three months. Also how's the touring going by the way? Let me check what's going on their OHP... Oh! Absolutely nothing. Actually, how come a band that broke through 500k with one video hasn't had a one-man in their own city hmm... oh it's probably because most of the views came from Rajesh and Sanjay at the bot factory Mumbai. Maybe they should tour there.  I mean they did perform at free festivals tho for what most certainly was for no pay. Shitty western vk is a like plant that is able to synthesise flopping into energy and thrive, or at least one of the members is lucid enough to give a handy to a mate organising tours and get along with Morrigan, who are playing at the dome right now I gather?

The only difference between these awful western vk bands from Scandinavia and your shitty local band is that it's extremely easy to get something going that gives the impression that shits happening when in fact it is not. There's always an anime convention in need of an act to fill up space, and when the scene is so small and your friends are the ones bringing these Japanese bands you get your band to warm them up for them no problem, but when we really bring it down to any real parameter of achievement I would like for someone to point out the size of the crowd they can pull, the record label they're associated with ( the one your dad gave you doesn't count ) and the parity between followers and likes on social media.

I just looked at some videos on dystonia patients....this is fucking awful. He says he only has it on his upper right arm, but I'm scared that it may progress all over. I wish the very best for Yusuke.

As for those who are saying the band needed this hiatus because "their music sucks anyway"...shame on you. This announcement was very sudden, and losing someone like Yusuke over something as devastating as this is a huge blow to the band, and this man may have to deal with this for the rest of his life. Shame on you.

This. Being a mejibray fan myself and has been since their start I've lost "friends" in the fandom because I don't fancy 8P-SB music. Apparently, Koichi has made a tweet too about people hating on him/them and their new direction and that started another fire from people who think you are shit if you don't support 8P-SB. Also kind of frustrating that Genki and Koichi should've know that there would be reactions. No artist can switch from VK to Kpop (or whatever it is) without getting some kind of reactions from fans. Not all of us are deaf to their change.

Believe it or not hardcore Meji fans in South America are clearly past the music and all about supporting Koichi and Genki JUST because it's Koichi and Genki. I've seen PLENTY of rants and lectures about how "being a true fan means supporting them no matter what crap they're selling", so yeah, their 35 scattered fans WILL throw money at them, I'm sure.

Euthanasia reacted to Zeus in #113: NINTH by The GazettE
    | One of the best GazettE albums in recent memory.

I can't believe it's been three years since DOGMA. It feels like I just finished roasting it for being the "most underwhelming album of the year" and "ARCHE, Iowa-era Slipknot, and a quarter of DIM shoved in a blender and served cold". To be fair, most of my criticisms came from how stale and similar all the songs felt; the result of going a bit too far in the metalcore direction. Ever the perfectionists, it seems that the band actually addressed all of my complaints with NINTH. By combining the dark and heavy nature of DOGMA with the electronic rock explored with TOXIC and DIVISION and the retro "Gaze-rock" style of BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY, The GazettE have succeeded in delivering an experience that mixes old and new sounds. NINTH won't win you over if you don't like the direction of the last four albums. If you took more of an issue with the execution of those concepts, than this is what you've been waiting for since DIM.

It's been a while since I feel comfortable recommending an album of theirs. NINTH is an easier and more engaging listening experience than DOGMA, with smooth, slick, and balanced production. I don't understand the criticisms of "muddy production" because I don't hear it. I even pulled out my good headphones - the Sennheiser HD600s - and plugged them straight into my Logitech speakers to pluck out minor grievances with the mix and it sounded better that way. This reaches a level that visual kei music can rarely afford to reach. Ruki has advised fans to get great audio equipment to experience each album to the fullest, but I think it's more true now than before. The songs are also arranged very well and flow into each other, and I can't recall a single jarring stylistic transition. All of these elements together makes every song an attractive listening experience. There's also the absence of several elements which used to drag down prior releases: the lack of standout tracks, filler, and clumsy Green Day-ish all English punk songs that stick out. The GazettE cut the fat out of this album in a way I wish Dir en grey could.

An album can still have highlights even when it's consistently good. I can't end this review without naming my favorite tracks. The first would be "その声は脆く", a rock ballad which starts on an unassuming note before effortlessly sliding into a thick, melancholic atmosphere. It even has a (short) twin guitar solo, a staple of rock songs I've been missing from their music lately. The follow-up track, "Babylon's Taboo", creates the best one-two punch on NINTH. I could be convinced that this is a heavier take on an unreleased 9GOATS BLACK OUT song. "Falling" is the de facto single of the album, receiving the first music video to push the album, and there's a damn good reason why. "The Mortal" is another track that deserves a shout out for mixing some of NIL-era flavor in the chorus with DOGMA-style riffs in the breakdown, and serves as a great summary for the journey the album takes us on. If The GazettE were still releasing singles, this would have been the second one.

NINTH makes a strong argument for keeping a low profile until an album is complete. Visual kei bands can capture my attention with rapid fire single releases, but that makes it harder to impress me with an album of familiar content. NINTH wouldn't be as impressive if they gave us previews and teasers months or years before it was done. I hope other bands are taking notes. If you haven't already, put some cash towards this worthy album. It will be favorably remembered for years to come.

Euthanasia reacted to frayed in ex-MEJIBRAY members new project, "8P-SB" has formed
The writing was on the walls for awhile; I literally ‘jokingly’ guessed this back as far as January. Tsuzuku used to go on tirades on those tweet-casts about why people actually liked visual kei and kept referring back to jpop, like, “Why is Arashi so bad? Jpop is awesome. Why do you only listen to visual kei? Is it just for the make up?” (Obviously this is super abridged.) And I remember wondering back in the November of 2016, “well why are you doing visual kei then?” I’d heard from other people that his anti-visual rants dated back way further than that.

It’s like I don’t want to be pegged as close minded for not giving it a chance, because I am. I like a lot of genres of music, and I’m super invested in Tsuzuku as an artist. But it’s super weird to hear him use his voice like that, and it’s not like I hate it, but I don’t love it. And I’m not just a face fan that will just love anything he puts out because it’s him. I just hope that this leads to more experimental pieces in the future since Tsuzuku himself likes so many different kinds of music. I want to believe he won’t limit himself. Otherwise it’s kind of a waste.

In my opinion, I don't find MiA average. I admit to being biased, but I'm usually pretty good at saying when my faves aren't actually that awesome.

However, I do want to see him in more situations that challenge what he's capable of as a guitarist and to switch things up a little. He went to a high school specifically for guitar, he composed most of Mejibray's music, and from watching him - not to negate his showmanship, because he's always really fun to watch, but he makes his solos look so easy I feel like he could play them asleep at this point. I'll never be happy about this hiatus, but I'd like to see him do something exciting and different. (Not to say networking isn't a factor at all, boy networks his ass off lol.)

Euthanasia reacted to Zeus in I met YOSHIKI and asked about western visual kei
I'd like to take YOSHIKI's quote and add my own context.

This is the key. Visual kei was born out of Japan by those who felt like they didn't fit in anywhere in Japan. YOSHIKI isn't going to say that visual kei can't exist world wide because that's not good for his bottom line, but there's a very good reason why it hasn't taken off outside Japan. It has less to do with looks, singing capability, or chosen musical direction, and more to do with anti-conformity and rebelliousness within and against a homogeneous society. No other country faces the same mix of societal pressures and obligations the way the Japanese do, and as these pressures change over time visual kei changes over time too. This is in contrast to musicians from Western countries who want to emulate the style and look to their favorite and popular artists first. It's the difference between taking a picture, and taking a picture of that picture, and taking a picture of that picture. The farther away one gets away from the source and the conditions that cause that source, the less authentic the final product is.

I fully agree with this. So many bands follow trends because it's the thing to do, but at some point a trend started as a unique idea. Much as I expect musicians to look within themselves and put their feelings into music, I expect inspiring Western visual kei musicians to do the same thing with their looks. The looks are supposed to be an expression of how one feels, not a style of the decade to phone in and gain legitimacy.

I do think Western visual kei is a thing that can happen but the form it would assume would be so different we wouldn't even recognize it by looks alone. My ideal Western visual kei band would be identifiable with the sound alone. We would hear them and just know where those influences came from instead of the "lol i like visual kei and pocky" archetype that usually translates over first.

    I'm done ranting.
